This work concerns the study of the extraction of copper (II) in the perchlorate medium by Bis-2-ethylhexyl phosphoric acid (D2EHPA) in methyl isobutyl ketone (MIBK) at 25 °C at different ionic strength (1, 1/6, 1/10 mol kg À 1 ). The stoichiometry of the reaction of extracted complexations was determined by the slope method. The organometallic complexes extracted in the organic phase are of the type CuL 2 in methyl isobutyl ketone has unit ionic strength. The organometallic complexes extracted in the organic phase are of the type CuL 2 ClO 4 (H 2 O) or CuL 2 ClO 4 (MIBK)x in methyl isobutyl ketone has different ionic strength Efficiency of the extraction of copper (II) depends on the ionic strength of the aqueous medium. Hence when the ionic strength of the aqueous perchlorate medium increases the extraction of copper (II) increases.
The Copper atom in capric acid copper (II) monomeric complex, having formula of the type [M(HL) 2 L 2 ].nH 2 O(M : Cu(II) n=2), ( HL : capric acid) has been prepared and characterized by physico-chemical studies. The complex has been characterized with the help of elemental analysis, conductance measurements, Electronic spectral (UV-Visible) data suggest that the octahedral environment around the central metal ion. Fourier transform infrared spectrophotometer spectra (IR) confirm the presence of monodentate carboxylate anion (Δν =νasyCOO-νsymCOO-)>230 cm -1 ) in the complex. The thermal behavior of complex was studied by thermogravimetry (DTG), differential thermal analysis (DTA). The final decomposition products namely Cu 2 O.
