Education as the root of civilization has an important role in preparing human resources toward the effort of developing sciences. Nowadays, Moslem in the world are are divided into two attitudes: resisting and refusing the development of sciences. Both of the attitutes are needed to bridge wisely. It meant no one is burdened in facing modern sciences by the ways of appreciating the modern sciences, applying them appropriately and learning from the history of the development of knowledge in the glory age of Islam. This article tried to confirm that science as a result of education, is not only the representation of civilization but also the demonstration of the high value of civilization. In Indonesia, the idea to reconstruct the model of Islamic education is getting stronger in accordance with the development of modern education. In this context, the clasical knowledge as heritance needed to be transformed into the modern one. Transformation is something unavoidable by the institutions of Islamic education. *** Pendidikan -sebagai akar peradaban-memiliki peran penting dalam menyiapkan sumber daya manusia menghadapi perkembangan ilmu. Saat ini, sikap umat Islam terbelah menjadi dua: menolak dan menerima perkembangan ilmu. Kedua sikap ini perlu ditengahi secara bijaksana. Caranya, merasa tidak terbebani dalam menghadapi sains modern dengan memberikan apresiasi dan menerapkannya secara benar. Di samping itu, dengan cara belajar dari sejarah perkembangan ilmu di masa kejayaan Islam. Artikel ini berusaha menegaskan bahwa ilmu pengetahuan sebagai buah dari pendidikan, tidak hanya menjadi representasi peradaban tetapi juga mampu menunjukkan tingginya nilai peradaban. Di Indonesia, gagasan untuk merekonstruksi model pendidikan Islam menguat seiring dengan perkembangan pendidikan modern. Dengan demikian, meskipun pengetahuan klasik merupakan warisan, namun perlu dilakukan transformasi ilmu yang selaras dengan dunia modern. Perubahan merupakan hal yang tidak dapat dihindari oleh lembaga pendidikan Islam.

Covid-19 pandemic has brought out some new words classified as four: Indonesian, English, loan words, and abbreviation or acronym. Those new vocabularies trigger similarities and differences in how Indonesian understand and use them. This study aims to explain the construction and implication of those new words from the perspective of Qur'anic asynonymity (al-Wujuh wa al-Naza'ir). This study used a qualitative approach involving a library mixed with field research and engaging a survey to 104 respondents (61 educators, 29 students and 14 common people). The analysis reveals two findings as a scientific contribution to the linguistic discipline. On the aspect of language meaning, most of the respondents know the meaning of new Covid-19 pandemic words while showing a variety of understanding. On the aspect of language use, meanwhile, most of the respondents are more familiar with English words such as "Corona, Covid, Covid-19" instead of both Indonesian and loan words like "Wabah, Pagebluk, Pandemi". Additionally, they have different perceptions in the use of those new words for practical use.
The Covid-19 pandemic divides the attitudes of pesantren residents into three categories: very strict, very loose and moderate (tawassut). This moderate attitude is found in Pesma Al-Hikam and Pesantren Sabilurrosyad in Malang City. This article uses a qualitative approach, then analyzed from the perspective of Pierre Bourdieu’s capital theory. The purpose is to describe how the attitudes, mindset, and residents’ behavior of Pesantren Tangguh related to symbolic, cultural, social, and economic modalities, to control the pandemic crisis. The findings of this article are Pesma Al-Hikam and Pesantren Sabilurrosyad as Pesantren Tangguh are representations of moderate Islamic educational institutions during the Covid-19 pandemic in terms of Bourdieu’s capital theory. First, the nationalist-religious; adaptive and inclusive; and philosophical-rational character in terms of symbolic capital. Second, the theological view that combines destiny and endeavors harmoniously; an elastic and comparative view of Islamic law; and Sufistic behavior that combines ritual and social worship in terms of cultural capital. Third, the behaviour of pesantren residents who remain active in carrying out activities at the pesantren but are disciplined in complying with health protocols in terms of social capital. Fourth, the economic independence of the pesantren in fulfilling the needs and social assistance to the peripheral community in terms of economic capital. In summary, the residents of Pesantren Tangguh show moderate character in aspects of attitude, mindset, and behavior related to symbolic, cultural, social, and economic modalities, enabling the pesantren residents to be able to control the Covid-19 pandemic crisis well.
This article aims to determine the impact of overlapping parental duties during the pandemic on the psychological condition of children in Distance Learning, based on the results of interviews and observations of students and their guardians at Al-Amanah Campor Barat Kindergarten, Ambunten Sumenep. This article identifies the overlapping duties of parents, namely studying children's school assignments, motivating the children to learn, finding a stable internet network, and providing the monthly internet quotas. Furthermore, the overlapping of parental duties during distance learning has a negative impact on the child's psyche. The indicator is that children feel bored and even cry, because often parents are impatient and yell at them during the implementation of distance learning.
