Loving God with all the existence is God's command. God wants this commandment continue for generation to generation. Parents have responsibility to teach their children to live loving God, living in obedience to the Word of God. In the context of church, Sunday School teachers are also responsible for teaching the Bible. But in carrying out this important task, they had difficulties because the Bible is written in conceptual and abstract form, while the children which according to Piaget's theory is in the preoperational and operational concrete stages is thinking very concrete. The purpose of this study was to bridge the gap between biblical teachings written in adult language and how children learn and understand information. The research method used is descriptive qualitative based on phenomenological. There is a phenomenon that children often difficult to understand the Bible, especially doctrinal themes. The results of the study present ways to teach the Bible to children by paying attention to children's cognitive development.AbstrakMengasihi Allah dengan segenap keberadaan hidup orang percaya merupakan perintah Allah. Allah menghendaki perintah ini terus dilakukan turun-temurun. Orang tua di rumah memiliki tanggung jawab untuk mengajar anak-anaknya hidup mengasihi Allah, hidup mentaati Firman Allah. Dalam konteks gereja para guru Sekolah Minggu (SM) yang bertanggung jawab mengajarkan Alkitab kepada anak-anak. Tetapi dalam melaksanakan tugas yang penting ini guru mengalami kesulitan karena pokok pengajaran Alkitab dicatat dalam bentuk konsep-konsep yang bersifat abstrak, sementara cara berpikir anak-anak yang menurut teori Piaget berada pada tahap praoperasional dan operasional konkret sangat bersifat konkret. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menjembatani antara ajaran Alkitab yang dituliskan dengan bahasa orang dewasa dengan cara belajar dan kemampuan anak memahami suatu informasi. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif berbasis fenomenologis. Terdapat fenomena bahwa anak-anak sering kali sulit memahami isi Alkitab, terutama tema-tema yang sifatnya doktrinal. Hasil penelitian menyajikan cara-cara mengajarkan Alkitab kepada anak-anak dengan memperhatikan perkembangan kognitif anak. Kata Kunci : Metode mengajar; Sekolah Minggu; Proses belajar mengajar
