The soluble form of quinoprotein glucose dehydrogenase (EC 1.1.99.17) from Acinetobacter calcoaceticus has been purified 2430-fold to electrophoretic homogeneity. The purified enzyme shows a specific activity of 2600 units/mg of protein, and 45% of the starting activity is recovered. In the presence of polyethylene glycol 6000 the purified glucose dehydrogenase crystallizes readily. Glucose dehydrogenase possesses a molecular weight of 1 10 000 as determined by sedimentation-equilibrium centrifugation. The
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
