Sports field is a strategic tool to achieve the 2030 vision. It is a substantial way to modify human behavior, self-discipline, refine the soul, and build the body. In addition, it plays a great role in building capital Social, strengthening the community fabric, and improving cohesion and social solidarity among individuals. The culture of sports in Saudi society, as a healthy lifestyle, is still absent. Therefore, it's indispensable to stimulate this concept in our society, to improve the quality of life and eliminate non-communicable diseases such as diabetes and obesity. This could be achieved by motivating and sensitizing individuals to the importance of sport to have a healthy lifestyle. This study aimed to determine the extent of sports practice among women in the Saudi society, by identifying the motives and obstacles among the women society in Saudi Arabia, moreover, seeking for suggestions and solutions to increase the culture of sports practice among women in Saudi society. To achieve this goal, a questionnaire has been applied to 432 Saudi women in Riyadh. The study was based on a descriptive approach. We conclude that Saudi women are keen to keep their fitness and increase their motivation for sports practice, increasing their motivation for exercising. The high cost of participating in the club is one of the obstacles that women face in society. Besides, the absence of school curricula for sport reduces Saudi women's awareness of the importance of practicing sport.
IntroductionDuring the current crisis of COVID 19, recent studies evident that it has a huge impact on public mental health and individuals’ behavior.ObjectivesOur study aimed to estimate the prevalence of high denial attitude towards the emerging pandemic of COVID 19 among the general population of Saudi Arabia.MethodsA cross-sectional online survey was conducted from April 3, 2020 to May 5, 2020. All participants (N= 1817) were asked to complete an online questionnaire survey that included socio-demographic and other variables, and Denial Attitude Questionnaire towards COVID-19 pandemic (DAQ-COVID-19).ResultsHigh denial attitude was prevalent among 728 (40.1 %) of the participants. It was associated with old age, being married, having low educational level, working in a non-medical professions, do not have a past history of infectious diseases, spending less than one hour following COVID-19 news, satisfied with the government procedures for COVID-19, and highly depressed and anxious respondents, where p-values were 0.001, 0.019, <0.001, 0.027, <0.001, <0.001, 0.004, 0.008, and 0.026; respectively.ConclusionsAbout two out of five participants had high denial attitude. To our knowledge, the current study is the first study that tries to evaluate a high denial attitude during the initial COVID 19 outbreaks, especially in Saudi Arabia. However, further exploration in this field is needed. We suggest conducting such a study at the end of the current pandemic or in the second wave of the outbreak
The study aimed to identify the obstacles facing Saudi woman while working in a mixed work environment. The main study sample consisted of (223) from the health sector female affiliates and were divided into two groups. The first group consisted of (129) participants from the health sector and workers in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) hospitals. The second group involved (94) participants from the health sector and workers in Najran, KSA hospitals. The study adopted the descriptive and analytical approach and the study instrument consisted of a questionnaire to identify the obstacles that the Saudi women encounter in the mixed environment. Results indicated that the most serious obstacles that Saudi woman encounters in the mixed work environment were social, professional, ethical, and psychological obstacles. There were statistically significant differences between the mean scores of women working in Riyadh and those women who working Najran regarding to the social obstacles in favor of women working in Najran and the ethical obstacles in favor of women working in Riyadh. There were no statistically significant differences between both groups in accordance to psychological and professional obstacles and the overall questionnaire degree. Furthermore, there were significant differences due to the nature of the work, whether a physician, nurse, or administrative employee regarding the social obstacles in favor of the woman working the administration field. There were significant differences with regard to both ethical and psychological obstacles in favor of women working in the administration field.
Family is the fundamental unit in building strong and cohesive societies. Therefore, it is essential to provide the family with a range of mechanisms and skills that help to fulfill its mandated role by immunizing its children from destructive beliefs. Thereby, the family plays a pivotal role in embodying what is known as intellectual security in society, which is a key factor in flourishing society's progress and prosperity. In addition, It plays a decisive role in society cohesion and pursuit to achieve intellectual security to its children. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the educational role of the family in enhancing the intellectual security of the children in the Saudi society. The sample consisted of (336) parents, aged between (30-60 years), (mean = 44.04, S.D. =7.42) living in Saudi Arabia. We used the questionnaire developed by researchers, consisting of (36) phrases distributed in three dimensions. The results indicated that the role of parents was in a high level in all dimensions of the questionnaire, Especially, Religious and moral dimension. In addition, Data analysis shows the importance of the educational role of the family in reinforcing the intellectual security of its children in the Saudi society. Based on these results, this study demonstrated the importance of encouraging responsible persons to consider this vital issue with great interests and awareness, and provide full support to Saudi families, helping them to achieve the intellectual security for their children, by increasing security awareness and explaining the dangers of extremism and terrorism to the security. Furthermore, strengthen the intellectual programs, and reduce the obstacles faced by families, and its negative consequences for society.
Purpose: The present study aimed to identify the role of voluntary work in improving the social capital and enhancing sustainable development in the Saudi community. Methodology: Participants were (245) volunteers who were members of the Saudi Volunteer Organization (Takatuf). Their ages were between (20-26) years and were all dwelling in Riyadh. The descriptive survey method was used and the main study instrument was a questionnaire developed by the researchers. Main Findings: Analysis of the gathered data to answer the main two questions in the study revealed that voluntary work has a significant role in improving the social capital and achieving sustainable development in the Saudi community. Novelty/Originality of this study: In light of these findings, this study showed the importance of urging people in charge to seriously take into consideration this vital issue related to voluntary work and provide all possible support to institutions of voluntary work in Saudi Arabia in order to help to spread the culture of voluntary work. Moreover, people in charge were recommended to view voluntary work from the perspective of its effective contribution to the development of the social capital and achievement of sustainable development within the community, rather than the perspective of voluntary work as a charitable action.
