PHC reported its HRQoL. Pain/Discomfort (50.7%) and Anxiety/Depression (38.8%) were dimensions in which users reported more often some problem. About 10% of users reported extreme problems in these dimensions. A worse HRQoL was significantly associated with the following factors: women (β = -0,012); stroke (β = -0,106), arthritis, osteoarthritis or rheumatism (β = -0,086), depression (β = -0,079), heart diseases (β = -0,032); diet to lose weight (β = -0,014); diet to reduce fat intake (β = -0,017); health self-assessment as poor or very poor (β = -0,239); the use of alcoholic beverage once or more per month (β = -0,020). A greatest HRQoL was significantly associated with the following factors: users residing in the North and the Southeast (β = 0,049; β = 0,032), the practice of physical activity (β = 0,019), and better level of education. There was no association with HRQoL and factors related to health services. ConClusions: These findings show that the HRQoL of the users of PHC of SUS was influenced by demographic, socioeconomic, health-related conditions and lifestyle factors. Users with stroke had significantly lower HRQoL. Thus, the HRQoL can be an important measure for promoting health and comprehensive health care to users of SUS.
Invasive fungal infections, an important cause of mortality, are primarily treated using amphotericin B, which is available in different formulations, both conventional and lipid-based (liposomal, lipid complex, colloidal dispersion and Intralipid infusion). The aim of our study was to determine the efficacy and safety of conventional amphotericin B vs its lipid-based formulations. A systematic review followed by pairwise meta-analysis was performed, including randomised controlled trials (RCTs) that evaluated the use of lipid-based amphotericin B in patients with any degree of immunosuppression and susceptibility to invasive fungal infection. An electronic search was conducted using PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science and Scielo databases. Extracted outcomes were related to efficacy (cure) and safety (incidence of adverse events). Results were evaluated and meta-analyses were performed. Twenty-three RCTs were identified (n=2677 participants) for meta-analysis. No significant differences between conventional amphotericin B and any of the five formulations evaluated were observed, with regard to the efficacy analysis. With respect to the adverse events of nephrotoxicity, fever, chills and vomiting, all lipid formulations presented better profiles than the conventional formulation. The present systematic review and meta-analysis showed that conventional amphotericin B presents the same efficacy profile as lipid-based formulations, although the latter were associated with a safer profile.
INTRODUCTIONThe breeding of Japanese quails Coturnix japonica has excelled in aviculture, due to increased consumption of exotic meats and eggs, and represents an alternative to chicken production. In the USA, Japanese quails were introduced in the 1950s, and at that time the breeding of Japanese quails was already widespread in European countries. In Brazil, Japanese quails were introduced in the 1950s, but large scale production began in the mid 1960's (Howes 1964, Murakami & Ariki 1998, IUCN 2013, Jatoi et al. 2013.In addition to its importance for aviculture, the Japanese quail has become, in recent decades, an important experimental animal for scientific research. It is used extensively in studies examining genetics, nutrition, toxicology, em- The Japanese quail Coturnix japonica originated from North Africa, Europe and Asia, is used worldwide as an experimental animal and model for aviculture. The current paper characterizes Eimeria bateri, Eimeria tsunodai and Eimeria uzura recovered from C. japonica. Based on the fact that quails have a global distribution, as are their coccidia, the findings of this study should provide the means for diagnosis of those Eimeria spp. in other regions and continents. Eimeria bateri showed the greatest intensity of infection and shed oocysts from the fourth day after infection; in contrast, E. tsunodai and E. uzura shed oocysts from the fifth day after infection. The three species shared a high degree of similarity and were all polymorphic. Yet, the application of line regressions, histograms and ANOVA provided means for the identification of these species. Finally, the algorithm was very efficient since verified that resultant values were not superimposed.
Belimumab exhibited a satisfactory profile regarding efficacy, safety, and tolerability. Rituximab showed no superiority over placebo in terms of efficacy, despite its suitable safety profile. Biologic agents exhibited a good safety profile for SLE treatment, indicating that these agents are promising therapies and should be further investigated.
