The intramolecular cyclization of α-carboxyl, ω-amino
heterodifunctional polystyrene was
carried out to obtain cyclic polystyrene having an amide moiety in the
main chain. The amide moiety
was reduced with lithium aluminum hydride to give macrocyclic amine.
The reactions of the macrocyclic
amine with carboxylic-terminated polystyrene and glutaric acid gave
tadpole- and eight-shaped
polystyrenes, respectively. These macromolecular architectures
were characterized by NMR, IR, and
GPC analysis.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
