Axon guidance protein Semaphorin 3E (Sema3E) promotes tumor metastasis and suppresses tumor cell death. Here, we demonstrated that Sema3E was decreased in gastric cancer. Its levels were inversely associated with tumor progression. Levels of Sema3E were associated with low p300 and high class I histone deacetylase (class I HDAC). Ectopic expression of Sema3E inhibited proliferation and colony formation of gastric cancer cell lines in vitro and xenografts in vivo. Sema3E overexpression inhibited migration and invasion of gastric cancer cells, which was associated with induction of E-cadherin and reduction of Akt and ERK1/2 phosphorylation. We suggest that silencing of Sema3E contributes to the pathogenesis of gastric cancer.
Effects of dispersed ionic liquid (IL) on physical absorption of CO2in aqueous solution were investigated in the study. IL-in-water emulsion had been prepared, whose continuous phase was surfactant aqueous solution, and dispersed phase was an ionic liquid, 1-octyl-3 methyl imidazole hexafluoride phosphate. The morphololgy of dispersion had been observed by visual method. The CO2concentrations in the bulk of the absorption solvent were calculated. Results show that the enhancement of carbon dioxide mass transfer was realized by IL-in-water emulsion. The reason for the increase of CO2mass transfer rates by dispersed ionic liquid has been attributed to the increase of mass transfer driving force depending on shuttle effect.
The purpose of this paper is to investigate the effect of osmotic pressure on the morphology of emulsion liquid membrane (ELM) by the visual way. The experimental results show that osmotic pressure has great effect on the globules of emulsion liquid membrane through water diffusion between two water phases. When under isotonic pressure, the water transport trend cannot be observed. When osmotic pressure is less than zero, water transfers from the internal phase to the external phase. But when osmotic pressure is larger than zero, water transports from the external phase to the internal phase first by diffusion, then water transports from the internal phase to the external phase by the coalescence. Therefore, it is possible to tailor osmotic pressure between two water phases to keep the stability of emulsion liquid membrane when ELM is used to separate some component.
In order to classify and identify different types of defects in GISs, this paper introduces a novel adaptive affinity propagation clustering (adAP) algorithm, which is used for classification of UHF signals of four kinds of typical defects. The algorithm has overcome the conventional affinity propagation (AP) algorithms defects, namely inability to acquire cluster number accurately and inability to cease oscillations, by technologies of adaptively scanning preference space to search for the number of clusters to find the optimal clustering results, adaptively adjusting the damping factor to eliminate oscillation and adaptively escaping oscillations. Finally, validity verification is performed over classification results using a variety of validity indexes. It is discovered that adAP algorithm can accurately tell the number of classes and realize classification of different types of defects. It is also superior to conventional AP algorithm in regards of the processing time and the number of loops.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
