The tensile properties of 4D in-plane carbon/carbon (C/C) composites were researched by MTS machine and ARAMIS optical strain test system. A damage model for analysis the gradual damage was proposed, which chose hoffman criterion and twin shear strength theory as the failure criterion of fiber bundle and matrix, respectively. Cohesive zone model was used to simulate the interfacial debonding at the fiber bundle/matrix interface. The effect of shear strength of fiber bundle/matrix interface on the tensile strength was researched. It is shown that the major factor caused by the failure of the material at axial tensile is the interface debonding, which make the fiber bundle pull out from the matrix. The failure factor for the radical tensile is the crack through out the fiber bundle and matrix, and that make the material fracture. Simulation result shows the interface shear strength have a significant effect on the tensile strength. With the strength promote, the tensile strength increase, and the best value of interface strength is 11MPa.
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to explore and analyze relationships between contextual factors, and micro-cognitive, emotional and relational factors, influencing the strategic decision-making process.
Design/methodology/approach
The relative roles of “rationality,” “intuition” and “political behavior” in five recent and critical strategic decisions have been explored using 16 semi-structured interviews with senior decision-makers in three Middle Eastern Arabic commercial banks.
Findings
Context specific macro-factors were found to influence the emotional state of strategists, leading them to adopt a rational approach, rather than use intuitive judgment, to making all five decisions.
Research limitations/implications
The study was limited to one contextual situation and business sector in order to maintain these variables relatively constant, with proposals for extending studies to other business situations and contexts.
Practical implications
The paper provides evidence for the impact of micro emotional and relational factors on decision-making practice, which should lead to increased recognition for strategists, and organizations, of the importance of these influences on strategic decision practice.
Social implications
A social implication is that organizations should build a level of awareness of the impact of the mood of strategists who are involved with strategic decisions, perhaps through appropriately designed social processes of organizational learning.
Originality/value
The paper examines the little-researched influence of the mood of strategists on the nature of decision-making process, and demonstrates the importance of including emotional factors in future studies. An explanatory framework is developed which is consistent with an interpretation that places the emotional state (mood) of “concerned attention” which existed within the senior management groups as the dominant factor driving the nature of process. A generalized research framework is proposed to aid future studies of strategic processes.
To resolve the divergence problems in three-dimensional finite element simulation caused by the mesh distortion,put forward a three-dimensional remeshing technique in ABAQUS by making use of the good interface between ABAQUS and HYPERMESH.Simulated a rubber block compression process using this technique.The results show that:1). the grid distortion at sharp corners has been improved significantly and this remeshing technique can attain reliable results,especially in three-dimensional models with the large deformation;2). the initial analysis load capacity should be reasonably determined in order to obtain the better remeshing results.This technique can resolve the problems brought by the mesh distortion very well.
