Generally the piezo-composites have superior hydrostatic response characteristics than PZT ceramics due to both the stress amplification effect in axial direction and stress reduction effects in radial direction. This paper described material properties of a 1-3 type piezo-composite that fabricated with ceramic injection molding (CIM) technology. The electro-mechanical performances of the composite have been analyzed using FEM and the physical properties of the composite have been measured with the vol% of the PZT ceramics. Based on the results, the k t increased rapidly as the vol% of the PZT ceramics increased up to 30 vol% and saturated the constant value in the above region. Also the experimental results have good agreement with the simulation values of the composite. Finally we developed the composites having high piezoelectric properties than the PZT ceramics with the CIM technology.
In this paper, equivalent properties of 2-2 mode piezocomposites were studied. Variation of the properties of 2-2 mode piezocomposites was analyzed by the finite element method, and the result was compared with experimental measurement data to confirm the validity of the analysis. The equivalent properties of a single phase material to represent the piezocomposite composed of PZT-5H and polymer were derived by the asymptotic averaging method.Accuracy of the derived equivalent properties was enhanced by minimizing the discrepancy between the impedance spectra of full 2-2 piezocomposite and equivalent single phase material resonators of various vibration modes by the least square method. The equivalent properties of 2-2 piezocomposites derived in this study can be utilized to the design of diverse acoustic sensors.
This paper reviews feasibility of piezoceramic-polymer composite, so called piezocomposite, materials for UUV sonar application. Focus is not only placed on high electro-acoustic transformation performance, also on mass productivity, which is achieved by introducing Powder Injection Molding(PIM) process. Theoretical piezocomposite design method is introduced with FEM verification. Samples, produced via PIM process, are tested and proved their feasibility as UUV sonar sensors.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
