Liquid-crystal-on-silicon (LCOS) device is a potential candidate for spatial light modulators (SLMs) due to its high resolution and the wide range of tunable phase retardation. Besides the telecom applications, SLM is also very promising for display applications, especially for the augmented reality (AR) displays. In this paper, we will discuss the advantages of analog LCOS SLM compared with the digital one. A 0.6" short-loop sample test result with precise cell gap controlled is introduced. Some CGH images are demonstrated using different algorithms. Finally, the liquid crystal response time performances are also discussed.
Wearable Displays is a hot research topic recently. The wearable display system must be ultra compact, high efficiency and low weight. In this paper, we propose a new display system called Front-lit LCOS to meet all the requirements. Comparing to conventional LCOS illumination system which requires a PBS cube having thickness about 10mm., the thickness ofFront-Lit illumination system is less than 1mm.
Teachers in numerous countries worldwide often confront education reforms in their career, in which, collaborating is considered a feasible approach to changing teachers’ traditional teaching philosophy. This study aims to examine Taiwanese teachers’ experiences of collaborating in school teaching teams. We invited six teachers from different schools for an interview. Afterward, we conducted two sessions of focus-group interviews with 18 participants from various roles in teaching teams as well as various geographical areas. The findings show that information exchanges of education works, uncoordinated processes of collaboration, and discussions not involving pedagogical knowledge are the general experiences on participating in the teaching teams. Certain barriers to teacher collaborations are from inadequate focuses during team discussions and a lack of curriculum leadership. Through experience-sharing, the participants considered that a focus on student learning during discussions and examples of practices for curriculum leadership were the key aspects for successful experiences in teacher collaborations.
The study aims to examine the Taiwanese adolescents’ trusts in various friends and the differences in those trusts between parental awareness of adolescents’ Facebook use for contacting friends. A survey method was utilized to collect the data related to parental awareness according to adolescents’ self-reports, and adolescents’ trust in five types of Facebook friends. A total of 1,120Taiwanese adolescents were invited to fill in a validated questionnaire that consisted of items on parental awareness and trust scales in five types of Facebook friends. Of the sample, 1120 questionnaires were valid. Data were analyzed using Friedman test and one-way analysis of variance. The study determines that the closer the friends were, the more trust adolescents exhibited in them. Moreover, the study concludes that Taiwanese adolescents who did not tell parents about the content of Facebook use exhibited higher trust in friends than those who told parents anything.Since the majority of adolescents put more trust in closer friends with less willing to tell their parents about contacts with Facebook friends, the parents need to be actively concerned their adolescents on Facebook use. The study contributes to the literature by providing a viewpoint, more trust adolescents put in friends, less awareness their parents had, for adolescents using Facebook to contact friends.
