Here we report a copper‐catalyzed protocol for the synthesis of α‐chloroketones from aromatic alkenes including electron‐deficient olefins under visible‐light irradiation. Preliminary mechanistic studies show that the peroxo Cu(II) species is the key intermediate and hydroperoxyl (HOO⋅) and chlorine (Cl⋅) radicals can be generated by ligand‐to‐metal charge transfer (LMCT).
An efficient, metal-free oxidation method of the Northo C(sp 3 )À H bond of amide via visible-light irradiation has been developed. A broad range of imides can be facilely obtained at room temperature and this protocol is show-cased in the gram-scale synthesis. Preliminary mechanistic studies revealed that a hydrogen atom transfer (HAT) process was involved and H 2 O offered the main oxygen source to achieve greener photochemical C(sp 3 )À H oxidation.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
