This study examines how the beliefs of Chinese in-service teachers regarding knowledge and knowledge acquisition influence their instructional classroom practices in junior secondary schools directly or indirectly through their conceptions of teaching and learning. The results indicate that the factor of learning effort/process is highly valued byChinese in-service teachers in their epistemological beliefs, and that the constructivist approach is the dominant conception on teaching and learning for junior secondary school teachers.. In addition, the constructivist conception of teaching and learning is found to be positively related to three types of classroom instructional practices, whereas the traditional conception about teaching and learning is found to be only significantly and negatively linked to standard contemporary practices.
This article examines the nature of teachers' subjective wellbeing. Drawing upon the survey evidence from a three-year mixed methods study in China, the article explores the dynamic interaction between key aspects of teachers' subjective wellbeing: altruism and self-efficacy (psychological functioning) and work satisfaction and income satisfaction (cognitive dimension). The results show that although teachers' judgement of the quality of life in their workplaces reflects the strengths of their altruistic values and their capacity to fulfil these values, such judgement is adversely moderated by their income satisfaction.The research adds new evidence to current debate on the quality retention of teachers.
The utility of food traceability standards aims to reduce the of food security and to provide consumers with targeted information. A survey has been conducted on sample of consumers in Beijing (n = 234), aiming to explain the intention toward purchasing traceable beef using the theory of planned behavior (TPB). Based on the TPB, the present study has added new variable: past experience. Structural Equation Modeling is applied to test the TPB model. Results show that attitude, subjective norm and past experience are positively associated with intention to traceable beef.
