With the rapid development of the technology of ship manufacturing and computer-aided design, the application of computer intelligent algorithm to study ship cabin layout problems has been widely used. However, the main consideration to solve the problem is to meet the functional requirements and the maintainability of the equipment hardly can be considered. Furthermore, while maintainability indexes are taken into considered, accessibility is the main consideration index, and other design indexes of maintainability couldn’t be considered enough. Considering this case, this paper established a mathematical model of ship cabin layout considering maintainability throughout analyzing the maintainability design indexes firstly. Secondly, it combined with the characteristics of ship cabin and the requirements of relevant specifications to build the mathematical model. Finally, this paper selected a certain type of fishing vessel and optimized it by using genetic algorithm. Under the condition of meeting the relevant specifications of ship construction, the maintainability design level of cabin equipment is improved. The research results could provide a preliminary reference for the layout and design of ship cabin equipment.
