A 1200km discontinuous M-T profile from Buenos Aires to San Miguel de Tucuman, gives a great complexity of results concerning the structure of the crust, the lithosphere and the upper mantle. At the northwest end of the profile appears a new geodynamic process associated with the Nazca subduction plate, generating one important geothermal area of about 200 km diameter. Deceased. Eduardo Garcia was tragically killed in a road accident on the 17th June 1977, whilst preparing the Chamical M-T campaign.
