Relative entropy of two states of a von Neumann algebra is defined in terms of the relative modular operator. The strict positivity, lower semicontinuity, convexity and monotonicity of relative entropy are proved. The Wigner-Yanase-Dyson-Lieb concavity is also proved for general von Neumann algebra. § 1.
A necessary and sufficient condition for two quasifree states of CAR to be quasiequivalent is obtained. Quasif ree states is characterized as the unique KMS state of a Bogoliubov automorphism of CAR. The structure of the group of all inner Bogoliubov automorphisms of CAR is clarified.
Abstract. Some inequalities and relations among entropies of reduced quantum mechanical density matrices are discussed and proved. While these are not as strong as those available for classical systems they are nonetheless powerful enough to establish the existence of the limiting mean entropy for translationally invariant states of quantum continuous systems.
A one dimensional infinite quantum spin lattice with a finite range interaction is studied. The Gibbs state in the infinite volume limit is shown to exist as a primary state of a UHF algebra. The expectation value of any local observables in the state as well as the mean free energy depend analytically on the potential, showing no phase transition. The Gibbs state is an extremal KMS state.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
