The application of cathodochromic materials in image display and storage devices is discussed. A two-way communication system that utilizes both the cathodochromic and the photochromic properties of some materials is described in greater detail.

The suitability of cw room-temperature injection iasers for information retrieval systems was investigated experimentally. The results indicate that in such applications AlGaAs injection lasers compare favorably with He-Ne gas lasers.
