Abstract. This paper discusses the incorporation of local cultural material in a teaching material developed for the students of the Hinduism Education Department of IHDN Denpasar. Teaching material plays an important part in teaching learning process, yet inappropriate teaching materials may become more harmful than useful. The unique nature of the HED students warranted the need for a tailor-made teaching material. The study found that the use of culturally familiar materials is beneficial for the students learning process. The result of the study also highlighted students' needs and prior knowledge as the main factors to be considered when developing teaching material.
This study aims to describe the existence of Puja Mandala in realizing the education of tolerance. The goal is to create an atmosphere of harmony that can create a safe, serene and peaceful atmosphere that is realized in real life not only in the theoretical terms, which is manifestly implemented through behavior and personality that eliminates fanaticism. Puja Mandala complex is the center of various religious cultures in the crowded urban areas of Kuta in which it becomes a common area in worshiping God Almighty. There are holy places for all the religions in Indonesia, Pura, Churches, Mosque, and Vihara for their respective followers. The realization of tolerance education in Puja Mandala embodied in the worship tolerance can take place beautifully, comfortably and orderly under the coordination of the leaders of each religion.
This paper describes several research conducted in the area of Information and Communication Technology and English Writing. The aim of this paper is to paint a picture about the kind of technology used in writing which caught the attention of researchers. It covers the trend of ICT utilization in English writing from 1990s to date, as well as delineating the future research areas in this field. It covers the research on the use of Word Processor, Blog, and Facebook in English writing teaching and research. As described herein, the use of technology especially ICT goes hand in hand with the development of humanity including in the field of education. In English writing the future will only see more pervasive and intensive use of ICT in education including in English writing classes.
