A method has been developed for the quantitative analysis of volatile phenols in crude organic mixtures. The analysis involves a one-step fractionation by thinlayer chromatography and determination by gasliquid chromatography. The procedure is reproducible and has been applied to the determination of phenols in tobacco smoke condensate.
