The main concern of the present study is to analyze the educational values of the oral text of genjek oral tradition performed by several genjek groups in Karangasem, eastern part of Bali. Genjek is one of the most popular oral traditions in Bali and it is a spontaneous performing oral art by a group of young villagers to express their feeling, thought, and criticisms to the existing conditions of the country. All criticisms and suggestions are conveyed through songs in common Balinese language accompanied by acoustic Balinese bamboo music instruments. Their performances are usually funny and entertaining. Most of the lyrics are created spontaneously during the performance. As an oral traditional, genjek is mainly performed for entertainment and the education of their supporting society. This study found that most of the oral text of genjek Karangasem contains educational values which are really important to maintain the harmony of the social life of the society. In addition, the present study revealed that genjek is also an effective way of educating a big crowd of people. Therefore, it is recommended that genjek should be utilized more extensively, especially in social education and in conveying mass information which is needed to be known by the society.
Tourism practitioners in Bali commonly do not have an adequate understanding of the local culture so that the service given to tourists is less optimal. Therefore, efforts for delving into the original culture are necessary through a scientific research as a source for an information material and appreciation in developing the cultural outlooks of tourism practitioners in Bali. This research aims to delve into, preserve and develop folklores having potentials of high culture as a source of creative economy.This is a qualitative research with a morphology-ethnographic approach which attempts to describe the narrative elements of folklores as a unified whole by considering its history in the community and its supporting culture. That is, besides looking at the lore aspect through the analysis of a folklore structure, it also considers its folk aspect through the analysis of its function and significance. Furthermore, this research focuses on the opportunity for the utilization of folklores as a source of creative economy in addition to strengthening the local wisdom and preventing cultural pollution resulting from the negative aspects of tourism and globalization. Untuk itu, diperlukan upaya penggalian budaya unggul melalui penelitian ilmiah sebagai bahan informasi dan apresiasi dalam pengembangan wawasan budaya para pelaku kepariwisataan di Bali. Penelitian ini bertujuan menggali, melestarikan, dan mengembangkan folklor dengan potensi budaya unggul sebagai sumber ekonomi kreatif. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan morfologi-etnografi yang berupaya mendeskripsikan unsur naratif folklor sebagai kesatuan yang utuh dengan mempertimbangkan penceritaannya di masyarakat dan kebudayaan pendukungnya. Artinya, di samping melihat aspek lore melalui analisis bentuk folklor juga mempertimbangkan aspek folk melalui analisis fungsi dan makna folklor. Lebih jauh, penelitian ini mencermati peluang pendayagunaan folklor sebagai sumber ekonomi kreatif di samping sebagai penguatan kearifan lokal dan mencegah polusi budaya akibat dampak negatif pariwisata dan globalisasi
The purpose of the study is to know the articulation of lifestyle in community after people sold their lands at Kutuh village, South Kuta County. This research began with to do investigation into village inventory people who sold their lands and then classified into several subsequent of the lifestyle according to this data. After that, the information was examined from view of the articulation of lifestyle in community after people sold lands ground.This research was carried out with the method of survey and observations on the field about the lifestyle in community after people sold lands. The researcher used the method of purposive samplings that were specified key informants and continued in the method of snowball in the purpose to get much data and information from another sources. And this research used interviews as tool of investigation of an interview. From the results of interviews with interviewers, researcher examined these informations and the form of change to descriptive. From the results of the study, researcher can conclude that the articulation of lifestyle in community has been described that the traditional lifestyle changes to modern lifestyle, for examples, clothing patterns, the pattern of food, recreational patterns, the ownership of the means of transport, the condition of the dwelling house architecture, and places of worship.
Forwarding pemali marriage expressions essentially are constituted by the myth, so they are essential to be analyzed since a lot of societies’ misinterpretation in creating meaning. The problems analyzed in this research are the form of pemali marriage, the deconstruction process on pemali marriage, and the relationship between pemali marriage in Busungbiu societies and local life. This is a qualitative research which used cultural studies paradigm. The data collection method utilizes observation, interview, and reviewing documents. The data were analyzed eclectically by utilizing deconstruction theory, cultural materialism theory, social semiotic theory, and encoding decoding theory. The research result shows that the forms of pemali marriage are related to kinship, physical features, social stratification, and time. The process of deconstruction on pemali marriage is done through three steps, they are deconstruction on the structure and the language code; reinterpretation on the meaning of pemali marriage; and representation on pemaliin the marriage ritual in order to rationalize those pemali. The deconstruction on the relation between pemali marriage and the position of the subject is found in three positions; they are hegemony dominant positions, negotiation positions, and opposition position.
