Oxidative modification of carbon nanofibers (CNFs) is performed using the following methods: ball milling followed by oxidation in air, treatment with a nitric acid solution, and electrochemical treatment with a solution of sulfuric acid. The changes in the properties of CNFs are monitored by transmission elec tron microscopy (TEM), X ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The effect of the method by which carbon nanofibers are treated on the thermal-oxidative stability of epoxy composites containing the initial or mod ified CNFs is established.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
