The purpose of the study was to justify the directions in the development of interdisciplinary ties in public finance management to develop practical recommendations for expanding and deepening the study of digitalization in the module of the educational program of state and municipal government. The research methods were: analysis, including content analysis, synthesis, inductive generalization. The main result of the study is the thesis of the need for the development of digitalization in teaching students in the educational program of state and municipal government. The digitalization and democratization of the state and municipal government processes pose new challenges to improve the student learning process. In particular, the need arises in the study of economic disciplines for the formation of knowledge and skills in managing the process of initiative budgeting. The analysis of the materials of the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation allowed the author to identify the factors and conditions for the successful integration of initiative budgeting in the practice of state and municipal government. Among the most important factors, the author identifies the digitalization of the process of initiative budgeting, including: the development of new programs for Internet platforms that provide management of the entire process of initiative budgeting; digitalization of citizen participation at individual stages of initiative budgeting. The author considers the motivation of the population to manage public finances to be no less important. The article substantiates the need for the development of digitalization in the process of preparing students for interdisciplinary relations in the study of the discipline "State and Municipal Finance" and the discipline "Information Technologies in Management" in training students in department 38.03.04 State and municipal administration.
