Mining exploration has left many communities in deplorable conditions, ranging from low levels of livelihood sustenance to poor health facilities and poor road networks. This study examined the impact of mining exploration on sustainable development of a community in Guinea, West Africa. The paper reviews literature published on mining and exploration and its impact on community environments.' However, this study employed descriptive quantitative and correlational methods, which facilitated the gathering, classification and presentation of data that led to analysis, description and conclusion of the study. In this study, 300 questionnaires were distributed to community inhabitants, which enhanced the compilation of first-hand information. Data was analysed using descriptive statistics. The results disclosed numerous problems, ranging from health to education and poor road networks. It was revealed that, exploration activities have damaged lands utilised for agricultural purposes, and deposits of toxic substances have damaged soil nutrients, which caused degradation of the land tenure system. Such problems have left lands to be unproductive. Because of the foregoing problems discovered as negative impact, it is fitting for government and mining corporations to pay considerable attention to Sangaredi community and address such problems. This study identified issues bothering Sangaredi and other communities where mining explorations are conducted. It descriptively explained issues of exploration and established the negative impact mining activities have caused in the community. However, such impact adversely affects the community at large. In addition, academics and mining consultants will use this information as a source for further investigation on the subject matter.
Exploration of bauxite mining has created numerous issues of concern in communities of operations and this has triggered engineering researchers and consultancy agencies to engage in investigations to establish causes of problems reported by communities regarding mining operations. The thrust for mineral exploration in different parts of the world has led to the destruction of many communities and their habitats. This study however focuses on uncovering problems caused by mining activities in Sangaredi and therefore employed primary data collection to enhance its objectives. The study reviewed pieces of literature from books, journal articles, magazines and other periodicals published on the subject matter. This study developed suitable data collection methods, which led to the design of questionnaires used to obtain first-hand information. A sample size of 300 was used, which facilitated the gathering of first-hand information that led to thorough analysis, discussion and conclusion. The study however used descriptive statistics and correlational methods to analyses survey data with the help of statistical package for social science (SPSS). Data analyzed disclosed issues such as air pollution, water and land pollution and increased poverty, which has adversely affected the Sangaredi community. Respondents emphasized that air pollution has caused permanent blindness and lungs problems in the lives of community people and that mining exploration exercises have change the community landscape, which has caused degradation and adversely affect agricultural activities. In consideration to the aforementioned negative effects caused by mining operations, it is but fitting for government and mining companies to dialogue and find appropriate solution towards community development deterrent. This study is however significant to mining practitioners, researchers in mining and exploration activities, Sangaredi community and the Government of the Republic of Guinea.

However, deposits of toxic substances have damaged soil nutrients and exploration have caused degradation on the land tenure system. Such problems have left lands to be unproductive. In addition, poor medical facilities have resulted to numerous outbreaks and lack of quality education has led to many children dropping out of schools. As a result of the foregoing problems discovered as the negative impact mining explorations have created, it is but fitting for government and mining corporations to considerable pay attention to Sangaredi community and address such problems. This study is noteworthy to the Sangaredi community and other communities where mining explorations are conducted. In addition, academics and mining consultants will use this information as a source of further investigation on the subject matter.
