According to the Brazilian Animal Protein Association, Brazil ranks 4th as the largest pork producer and exporter. These data show that in the swine production system, the owner has an extreme importance in the area, which correct management in all stages of creation bring positive results, as well as losses in production with regard to incorrect handling. Consumers are increasingly aware of animal welfare, with this Research, Society and Development, v. 9, n. 4, e52942829, 2020 (CC BY 4.0) | ISSN 2525-3409 | DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.33448/rsd-v9i4.2829 3 requirement being among the main requirements. The environment must be clean and dry and with proper handling of the channels in order to reduce sanitary problems. The density is 2.5 m² / animal for females in collective pens and 1.8 m² / animal for gilts. It is recommended that extra attention be given to the question of regulating the amount of feed provided to females at the end of pregnancy and lactation. The sooner the pregnancy diagnosis is better, since the empty females are removed from the farrowing group. The study, through a literature review related to the welfare and management of swine pregnant women, helps by promoting proper procedures and warning about the undue...
The tranquilization of acepromazine and the synergism resulting from its association with xylazine were evaluated. Seven pigs, SRD, healthy, male, aged 60 to 70 days and weighing on average 18.3 ± 2.7 kg were used. Compounds of two groups: group A - acepromazine 1%, 0.1 mg / kg, intramuscular; and 2% AX - xylazine group, 0.3 mg / kg, associated with 1% acepromazine, 0.1 mg / kg, in the same syringe. The following were evaluated: heart rate; systolic blood pressure; respiratory frequency; oxyhemoglobin saturation; body temperature and electrocardiogram. Sedation: absent, discrete or intense sedation. Muscle relaxation: absent, moderate or excellent. Measurement of the parameters: 0 and at 15, 30, 45, 60, 75, 90, 105 and 120 minutes after. The HR was higher in GA. There was no significant difference in f. SpO2 did not vary between groups or between moments. CT significantly reduced GAX. SBP did not vary in both groups. In the ECG, there was a change in the amplitude of the R wave. During the latency period and during the duration of sedation there was no significant difference between groups. In muscle relaxation GAX was higher in M75. Both protocols are safe and promote sedation in pigs, with synergism when using acepromazine associated with xylazine.
