The presence of speckle in Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) images makes the segmentation of such images difficult, either by gray levels or by texture. Based on an SAR speckle statistical model, this paper will investigate the feasibility of segmenting SAR images based on a gray-level histogram for one-look and multilook processed SAR images. Also, we will evaluate the classification errors and devise a procedure for the multilevel thresholding of SAR images.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
