The purpose of the study was to determine the general characteristics of students in dental technology departments; the correlations among their immersion in learning, class satisfaction, and academic achievement; factors influencing online learning experience; ways to improve students' class satisfaction; and basic data for designing effective online courses.Methods: A total of 300 questionnaires were produced and distributed to dental technology students from September 29 through October 8, 2020. The outcome was analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics ver. 25.0. A significance level of α=0.05 was used for reliable verification.Results: Immersion in learning, class satisfaction, and academic achievement were relatively high among students who studied on a regular basis, and class satisfaction and academic achievement were relatively high among students who studied with almost no interruption. Concerning the correlations between academic achievement, immersion in learning, and class satisfaction in online learning, the correlation between academic achievement and class satisfaction was the highest at r=0.862. Class satisfaction was the largest factor that influenced academic achievement, and the higher students' immersion in learning and class satisfaction were, the higher their academic achievement was. Conclusion:The research is a case study that investigated the general characteristics of dental technology department students and the correlations among their immersion in learning, class satisfaction, and academic achievement. The study outcome could be used in determining factors that influence online learning and designing effective online courses that improve learner satisfaction.
The purpose of this study aims to improve self-confidence, satisfaction and self fulfillment of dental technology students through practical skills competitions to meet the levels required by the industry.Method: The questionnaire was composed of 12 general characteristics, 23 self-efficacy, 25 practice satisfaction, 5 self-satisfaction, 12 self fulfillment out of 77 questions. The reliability of the surveys showed Cronbach' =0.893 on the self-efficacy, Cronbach' =0.871 on the practice satisfaction, Cronbach' =0.857 on self-satisfaction and Cronbach' =0.941 on self fulfillment. Results: Before and after the test result comparison showed a statistically significant difference for both men and women according to the general characteristics. Women's progress was higher than for men. The thought about dental technicians has changed for the better and showed a statistically significant difference. Subjects who have 3.1~3.5 school record showed the highest score on job skills, self-efficacy, practice satisfaction, self-satisfaction and self fulfillment according to the the general characteristics, and 3.6 ~ 4.0, 3.0 or less and 4.1 ~ 4.5 in order. Conclusion:This study was conducted with dental technology students who participated in practical skills competitions after 10 week 40 hours training in D college, and the results were as follows. Practical training improved the job performance, self-efficacy, practice satisfaction, self-satisfaction and self fulfillment improved significantly.
This study aimed to verify whether blended learning is worth alternating with traditional face-to-face learning for some dental technology students in practice teaching.Methods: A total of 68 students were included in this study. They were divided into two groups to compare blended learning and traditional face-to-face learning. The experiment had been carried out over 15 weeks. The following tests were performed: test of instructional quality, test of learning satisfaction, test of perceived usefulness, and test of learning flow. The IBM SPSS software was used to analyze the data. Results:The learning satisfaction and the perceived useful of blended learning by students appeared to be higher than that of traditional face-to-face learning. However, there was no significant difference in the variables of traditional face-to-face learning and those of blended learning (p<0.05). Conclusion:Blended learning is an alternative to traditional face-to-face learning for some dental technology students in practice teaching.
Purpose: This study was to investigate usage satisfaction of multi type handpiece with equipped air-jet function. Methods: The subjects of this study through the survey was conducted for fifty-nine dental technicians in Daegu and Gyeongsangbukdo from the May 7 to 19, after the June 23 to July 4 2014. The survey was about the function and quality through user testing environment by cutting zirconia specimens using appliance for zirconia. The collected date was analyzed by the statistical program SPSS Win Ver 19.0 for the satisfaction of handpiece and control system. To test for significance on each item, p<0.05 had been decided a standard. General characteristics and relationship between the handpiece and control system was performed correlation analysis.Results: The results of this study is as follows. 35 dental technicians had 1~2 years career in zirconia part as the highest 59.3%, 95% of subjects expected that the prospects for the zirconia material have bright prospects. The satisfaction of multi type handpiece and control system design and function showed a significant difference. Subjects satisfied with the design and function of the multi type showed negative correlation with those of Standard. The satisfaction of multi type handpiece showed 3.37 points of air jet, 3.05 points of noise level, 2.69 points of water flow rate, and 1.98 points of cruise function. Sample differences in all parameters showed a statistically higher difference.Conclusion: High-speed cutting mechanism of multi-type is recommended working with zirconia materials and the multi-type unit combined handpiece motor, air-turbine and air-gun will be expected the increase of user due to the high satisfaction of air jet.[Abstract] 169
