. Psychological experience can lead to the fear of speech anxiety (glossophobia). A number of studies explain that 75% people in the world have suffered glossophobia. The studies also revealed that, compared with men, women have higher tendency to experience glossophobia. The aim of the present study was investigating psychological experience dynamics and the role of gender that influence the emergence of glossophobia through narrative counseling. The data were collected qualitatively through observation and depth interview on five students of Public Senior High School 13 Surabaya. Furthermore, the data were analyzed thematically on three components of psychological experience dynamics: fear, anxiety, and negative thinking. The results of the analysis showed that most of the students are afraid to be laughed and humiliated. They are also anxious of past bad experience that would be repeated when speaking in public place. Moreover, excessive affection and cognitive responses of the female students are the trigger of experiencing glossophobia. Based on the interpretation, it can be concluded that misinterpretation of psychological experience and low-self-control of the students are able to determine glossophobia easily.
Academic stress is one of the negative emotional levels that can affect students’ physical, psychological, and academic health. Thus, there needs to be an assessment media that utilizes technological developments but can still evaluate academic stress levels effectively and efficiently. The purpose of this study was to develop an android-based assessment media (Stress Meter) that is able to measure students’ academic stress levels. This study used research and development methods. Data obtained were analyzed descriptively using Delphi technique for media acceptance test, and also Exploratory Factor Analysis test and Cronbach Alpha to test the validity and reliability of the instrument. The results of this study indicate that prototype of Stress Meter application has met the acceptability criteria and the instrument in it has passed the validity and reliability test. In conclusion, the prototype of Stress Meter application can be used by students as a media self-assessment and facilitate the performance of counselors in identifying the level of academic stress that students have.
Purpose: This study aims to analyze the relationship and the influence of parental parenting on students' PIU levels.Method: Correlational research with an explanatory design was chosen to answer the formulation of the research problem. A total of 121 junior high schools (SMP) students in Malang City were respondents to the study using random sampling. The research data was collected using two instruments, namely generalized problematic Internet Use Scale 2 (GPIUS2) and the Parenting Questionnaire in Alabama. The collected data were analyzed using multiple regression.Result: The results showed that inconsistent discipline, poor monitoring/supervision, and corporal punishment are variables that predict an increase in student PIU. Thus, it can be concluded that parental parenting is related and has an effect on the high and low levels of PIU.Implication: Therefore, parents need to adjust parenting by helping students in improving self-control during a pandemic that uses more internet access.Originality: This research is a study that focuses on analyzing problems that arise in the pandemic era related to problematic internet use (PIU) and parental parenting models.***Tujuan: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hubungan dan pengaruh Problematic Internet Use (PIU) terhadap pola asuh orang tua pada siswa SMA Kota Malang.Metode: Correlational research with explanatory design was chosen to answer the formulation of the research problem. Empati adalah kemampuan untuk mengidentifikasi hal yang sedang dipikirkan atau dirasakan oleh orang lain dengan tetap bisa mengontrol diri atas situasi yang ada, tidak dibuat-buat, dan tidak terbawa pada situasi yang sedang dirasakan orang lain. Belajar memahami keadaan orang lain bukanlah proses yang mudah, diperlukan berbagai keterampilan mendengarkan yang baik untuk dapat memisahkan pikiran, perasaan, dan perilaku diri dari pikiran, perasaan, dan perilaku orang lain. Individu saat ini kerap dituntut untuk mengembangkan kemampuan kognitifnya saja, namun kurang dibimbing dalam mengembangkan kemampuan yang lain salah satunya empati. Melalui pendekatan SFBC mahasiswa dilatih merancang tujuan diantaranya mengeksplorasi solusi, membantu merumuskan tujuan yang direncanakan, dan membantu membuat rencana yang diinginkan. Penelitian ini merupakan jenis penelitian eksperimen dengan pola one group pretest-postest untuk mengetahui tingkat empati mahasiswa sebelum dan sesudah diberi pendekatan SFBC. Populasi penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa FIP Universitas PGRI Kanjuruhan Malang tahun ajaran 2020/2021 dengan responden penelitian 9 mahasiswa yang diambil menggunakan metode purposive sampling. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Zhitung sebesar 2,668 dan signifikansi (2-tailed) sebesar 0,008. Jika probalitas <0,05 maka Ho ditolak dan Ha diterima. Artinya pendekatan solution focused brief counseling (SFBC) efektif untuk meningkatkan empati mahasiswa.
The continuous practice of online learning potentially carries boredom and negative effects on teachers’ psychology. This study investigates the effects of boredom on teachers’ psychological disorders during online learning. This correlational study used an explanatory design, involving 113 teachers from different educational levels (junior, senior, and vocational schools) in Malang, Indonesia. The participants were selected through cluster random sampling technique. The data collection process was carried out using two standardized instruments, the DASS 21 (Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Scale) and ABS-10 (Academic Boredom Scale). The obtained data were analyzed using correlation and linear regression analysis to examine the relationship and degree of contribution of predictor variable toward the dependent variable. The results indicate that boredom has a significant relationship with teachers’ psychological disorders. The boredom toward the online learning routine is a predictor carrying significant contribution toward teachers’ psychological disorders. The findings conclude that the psychological help and coping strategy enhancement to face boredom are essential for teachers.Abstrak: Kegiatan mengajar secara daring (dalam jaringan) yang dilakukan secara terus menerus berpotensi memunculkan kejenuhan pada guru dan berdampak negatif pada kesehatan psikologis mereka. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis hubungan kejenuhan terhadap gangguan psikologis yang dialami oleh guru selama pelaksanaan kegiatan pembelajaran daring. Penelitian korelasional dengan desain eksplanatori digunakan untuk menjawab tujuan penelitian. Seratus tiga belas guru dari tiga jenjang pendidikan yang berbeda (sekolah menengah pertama, sekolah menengah atas, dan sekolah menengah kejuruan) di kota dan kabupaten Malang, Indonesia dipilih menggunakan teknik cluster random sampling. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan dua instrument terstandard, yaitu DASS 21 (Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale) dan ABS-10 (Academic Boredom Scale). Data yang telah terkumpul lantas dianalisis menggunakan analisis korelasi dan regresi linier untuk mengetahui hubungan dan besaran kontribusi dari variabel prediktor terhadap variabel dependen. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa kejenuhan berhubungan signifikan dengan gangguan psikologis yang dialami oleh guru. Kejenuhan terhadap rutinitas selama kegiatan pembelajaran daring merupakan prediktor yang berkontribusi signifikan terhadap gangguan psikologis guru. Berdasar pada hasil analisis, penting bagi guru untuk mendapat bantuan psikologis dan meningkatkan keterampilan strategi coping yang baik untuk menanggulangi kejenuhan.
