This study aims to determine: (1) the relationship between self regulated learning and student academic procrastination; (2) the relationship of self efficacy with student academic procrastination; (3) the relationship between self regulated learning and self efficacy with student academic procrastination. The hypothesis proposed is a negative relationship between self regulated learning and self efficacy with student academic procrastination, assuming the higher self regulated learning and self efficacy, the lower the student academic procrastination. Conversely, the lower the self regulated learning and self efficacy, the higher the student's academic procrastination. The number of samples is 61 people. The sampling technique uses saturated sample techniques. The data collection techniq uses questionnaire. The research method used is quantitative methods. The results of the study conclude that: (1) there is a negative relationship between self regulated learning and student academic procrastination; (2) there is a negative relationship between self efficacy and student academic procrastination; (3) there is a negative relationship between self regulated learning and self efficacy with student academic procrastination.
This study deals with the conversational implicatures on Indonesia Lawyers Club program on TV One. The objectives of the study are (1) to observe the types of maxim violation potentially cause conversational implicature, (2) to ascertain the maxim violation that dominantly causes conversation implicatures, (3) to give the reasons of the dominant type of violation that causes conversational that causes conversational implicatures on Indonesia Lawyers Club program by using Gricean Theory of Cooperative Principle. The study is conducted by qualitative content analysis. The findings of the study are, (1) there are four types of maxim violations as maxim of quantity, maxim of quality, maxim of manner, and maxim of relevance, (2) the dominant type of maxim violation appeared is maxim quantity and (3) the reasons of the dominant type deal with, to show up pain and core of the problem to the audience, to save one face, to defend certain group and blame the government.Keywords: conversational implicature, cooperative principle, maxim violation, Indonesia Lawyers Club
This study discussed the use of code-switching among the late adolescents in social media Facebook. The purpose of the research was to know the types of code-switching used among the late adolescents in social media Facebook by applying Poplack theory. The other purpose was to reveal the reasons for using such types of code-switching in social media Facebook by applying Hoffman theory. The descriptive qualitative research design was used in this study. The data of the research were analyzed using Miles and Huberman method. The results of the research were: (1) there were three types of code-switching used by the late adolescents in social media Facebook, (2) some reasons in using code-switching were being emphatic to others, the use of interjection to gain attention, the use of repetition for clarification, intention of clarifying the speech content for interlocutor, expressing identity group, softening the request or command, lexical needs, and using satire. Test Of English Foreign Language (TOEFL) Institusional Testing Program (ITP) saat ini merupakan tren di kalangan pelajar maupun pekerja, sebab tes ini digunakan sebagai prasyarat dalam banyak hal, seperti syarat kelulusan, syarat melanjutkan ke jenjang pendidikan yang lebih tinggi, syarat masuk kerja hingga syarat kenaikan jabatan. Bagi mahasiswa yang akan mengakhiri masa studi sarjana di Program Studi Manajemen di Universitas Muhammadiyah Kalimantan Timur (UMKT) tes ini digunakan sebagai syarat kelulusan, dengan skor minimal 400. Berbagai cara dilakukan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan mahasiswa, salah satunya yang dilakukan oleh tim pengabdi. Pada tanggal 21 Maret 2021 situasi masih masa pandemi, sehingga kegiatan ini tidak dapat dilaksanakan secara tatap muka, namun secara daring melalui aplikasi zoom. Mahasiswa diberikan pelatihan untuk memahami tips and tricks menghadapi TOEFL yang berdasar paper base. Kegiatan diawali dengan penyampaian materi yang terdiri dari jenis-jenis beasiswa dalam dan luar negeri, contoh beasiswa penuh dengan tes ini sebagai persyaratan utama, disampaikan juga komponen tes serta contoh soalnya. Di samping itu, sharing pengalaman mengikuti tes ini oleh tim pengabdi menjadi rangkaian acara ini. Kegiatan selanjutnya adalah sesi try out, peserta diberikan beberapa soal yang berhubungan dengan pelatihan, sehingga peserta mengenal langsung tes TOEFL yang sesungguhnya. Dari hasil try out dapat dinilai bahwa kegiatan ini membangkitkan semangat mahasiswa untuk menyelesaikan test, sehingga jika nantinya menghadapi tes yang sesungguhnya memperoleh score lulus.
