Choosing a career as an Early Childhood Education Teacher is both challenging and joyful. Not everyone is interested in this profession except for those who have strong motivation. This study aims to identify students’ exact motivation to select the Early Childhood Education Department at Public University. This study uses combined qualitative and quantitative methods (exploratory mixed methods design). Sources of qualitative data were taken from twenty informants through in-depth interviews and analyzed using NVivo 10 analysis software, while sources of quantitative data were taken from a hundred correspondents and analyzed using SPSS 20 software. Both qualitative and quantitative data analyses showed that students have seven motivations to select the Early Childhood Education Department. Those seven motivations are: i) parents encouragement (81%); ii) job opportunities after graduation (83%); iii) loving kids (85%); iv) teaching is a noble profession (100%); self-will (70%); vi) the choice to be a teacher (76%); and vii) Early Childhood Education is not difficult, but joyful (80%). The study has successfully revealed seven students’ motivations for selecting the Early Childhood Education Department at Public University. This study’s results can be used as preliminary data for subsequent researchers to examine this problem in different contexts and issues. This study’s findings need to be continued by the next researcher by examining the correlation between motivational aspects with various other variables. However, this data can also be used as an initial reference for examining the issues and problems in different contexts.
This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of using Islamic Box Fabel learning media in fostering spiritual intelligence such as honesty, discipline, mutual cooperation, responsibility, motivation and courage towards students. The research was conducted with research and development (R&D) methods, this research approach is appropriate to use because it aims to develop media in a learning method. The research data was taken from 42 participants through an analysis of value documents in three elementary schools through three cycles of data retrieval. All data were then analyzed using SPSS Version 22.0 software. Overall the results of the study indicate that the use of Islamic Box Fable learning media is very effective to use in fostering the spiritual intelligence of students. Improved honesty, discipline, mutual cooperation, responsibility, motivation and courage obviously can be seen in every cycle that have been carried out. The results of this study have succeeded in revealing that there are many ways and methods that can be done by the teacher to deliver material or messages of learning in the classroom, one of which uses the Fable Box media as proposed by the researcher who conducted this study
AbstrakPenelitian ini dilatarbelakangi terdapatnya beberapa anak yang menggunakan ucapan kasar dan berteriak-teriak dengan keras ketika bermain bersama temannya. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui bagaimana komunikasi guru dan orang tua dalam mengembangkan pembiasaan ucapan yang baik terhadap anak di Taman Kanak-Kanak Aisyiyah Bustanul Athfal Padang Panjang. Jenis penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif, subjek penelitian ini yaitu enam orang guru kelas dan sepuluh orang wali murid kelas B1 Taman Kanak-Kanak Aisyiyah Bustanul Athfal Padang Panjang. Cara untuk mengumpulkan data yang peneliti gunakan adalah observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi, sedangkan teknik analisis data dilakukan dengan teknik triangulasi data. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa memang adanya komunikasi guru dan orang tua dalam mengembangkan pembiasaan ucapan yang baik terhadap anak. Strategi atau cara yang dilakukan guru yaitu memahami karakterstik anak, menjalin kelekatan, menjadi teladan bagi anak, menggunakan metode bernyanyi dan bercerita, mengaitkan setiap pembelajaran dengan pembiasaan ucapan yang baik, serta menjalin kolaborasi dengan orang tua untuk mengembangkan pembiasaan ucapan yang baik tersebut dirumah. Sedangkan strategi atau cara yang dilakukan orang tua yaitu menjadi model dan mencontohkan kepada anak ucapan-ucapan yang baik. Maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa komunikasi guru dan orang tua dalam mengembangkan pembiasaan ucapan yang baik terhadap anak di Taman Kanak-Kanak Aisyiyah Bustanul Athfal Padang Panjang sudah mulai berjalan dengan baik karena jalinan komunikasi yang dilakukan guru dan orang tua terhadap anak serta adanya kerjasama dari guru dan orang tua dalam upaya mengembangkan pembiasaan ucapan yang baik di sekolah maupun di rumah. AbstractThis research was motivated by the presence of several children who used harsh speech and shouted loudly when playing with their friends. This study aims to determine how the communication between teachers and parents in developing good speech habits for children in Aisyiyah Bustanul Athfal Kindergarten, Padang Panjang. This type of research is descriptive qualitative, the subjects of this study are six class teachers and ten guardians of class B1 Aisyiyah Bustanul Athfal Kindergarten, Padang Panjang. The way to collect the data that the researcher uses is observation, interview and documentation, while the data analysis technique is done by using data triangulation technique. This study found that there is indeed teacher and parent communication in developing good speech habits for children. The strategies or methods used by the teacher are understanding children's characteristics, establishing attachment, being role models for children, using singing and storytelling methods, linking each learning with good speech habits, and collaborating with parents to develop good speech habits at home. Meanwhile, the strategy or method used by parents is to become a model and give examples to children good words. So it can be concluded that the communication between teachers and parents in developing good speech habits for children in Aisyiyah Bustanul Athfal Kindergarten, Padang Panjang has started to run well because of the communication between teachers and parents towards children and the cooperation of teachers and people. parents in an effort to develop good speech habits at school and at home.
A Child is an active imitator. These are the characteristics of children in early childhood who easily imitate the surrounding environment, whether what they see, hear, and experience will become the context that the child will imitate. Parents as first and foremost educators have strategic and practical responsibilities and roles in shaping an environment that has a direct impact on the formation of imitation habits. But all of them have challenges that must be faced by parents. These challenges include: communication using ethical language, communication using language that is appropriate to children's development, communication that is preceded by the formation of a comfortable environmental climate, planned communication and focus on habituation of values. certain aspects, as well as communication with psychological expression and touch. This study reveals the challenges faced by parents in making good speech habits in early childhood.
