Global connectedness and digital revolution have reshaped workplace oral communication requirements. Industries today call for engineers with excellent oral communication and presentation skills. In response to this, this research attempts to move from a monomodal to a multimodal approach in teaching oral presentations for undergraduate engineers. The Learning by Design Model (LBDM) by Kalantzis and Cope (2005) is used as a framework in the teaching of oral presentation using a multimodal approach. Findings from a qualitative inquiry illustrate that the multimodal learning environment with its multiple modalities have provided a group of low proficiency undergraduates great opportunities and autonomy
Chemical peeling is a process wherein one or more chemical agents are applied to the skin. It causes partial destruction of the epidermis or dermis with exfoliation or desquamation followed by resurfacing of the epidermis and remodeling of the collagen and elastic fibers. It is a type of controlled cosmetic chemical burn which is one of the treatments for acne and post-acne pigmentation. Post-acne hyperpigmentation (PAH) is very common in acne patients which can occur in all skin types, although it is more common in dark skin types which affects both men and women equally. Many studies have been conducted for post-acne pigmentation by combining chemical peeling with lasers or with topical medications. Only a few studies have reported the efficacy of chemical peeling alone in the treatment of post-acne pigmentation. Thus, this review focuses on the efficacy of glycolic and salicylic acid chemical peels used in the management of post-inflammatory pigmentation.
The study aimed to develop a conceptual framework for measuring the website quality of public sector organizations through users' feedback on service quality and satisfaction. The methodology involved a full review of previous studies on website quality service quality user satisfaction and website quality evaluation models. The review highlighted the need for further research to explore public organizations' website quality from users' perspectives. A conceptual framework was proposed to explore website quality using sequel and user satisfaction models.
Needle sticks are a common occurrence in the health care profession. Of these, many, if not most, go unreported. In response to the risk of exposure, institutions have focused in primary prevention as a means of reducing the incidence of needle sticks and thereby decreasing the number of incidence of needle sticks and thereby decreasing the number of blood borne pathogen transmissions. Needle stick injuries still occur, however, and it is important that individuals in the health care field become well informed about the exposure risks and educated regarding the appropriate response. The role of the employers of health care workers in preventing needle stick injuries are implementing the use of engineering controls, avoid the use of needles when there are other safer alternatives, implementing use of devices with safety alternatives, implementing the use of devices with safety features, setting priorities and strategies for needle stick injury prevention by examining local and national information about risk factors, ensuring proper training of employees on the safe use and disposal of needles, modifying work practices that have an increased risk of a needle stick injury, promoting safety awareness in the work environment, establishing procedures for and encouraging the reporting of all needle stick and other sharps related injuries, evaluating the effectiveness of prevention efforts and providing feedback on performance. The role of the employees in preventing needle stick injuries are avoiding recapping needles, before beginning any procedure using needles, planning for safe handling and proper disposal, helping the employer select and evaluate devices with safety features, using devices with safety features, reporting needle stick and other sharp related injuries, disposing of used needles in appropriate sharps disposal containers, informing the employer of hazards from needles that are observed at work and participating in blood borne pathogen training and following recommended infection prevention practices, including hepatitis B vaccination.
Website quality is among the key drivers of the success of egovernment transformation as citizens are more likely to participate when they found a satisfying engagement with a website. This paper proposed a framework of public agency website quality evaluation for the National Media Council, UAE. The study used a quantitative approach where a survey strategy was used to administer questionnaires to users of an agency's website. A total of 185 questionnaires were analysed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling software (SmartPLS version 3.2.6). The result revealed that website quality had a statistically significant effect on user satisfaction. Similarly, it was further found that website quality had a statistically significant effect on perceived service quality. The result implies that users of NMC website interpret the quality of the agency's website from the purview of the satisfaction they derive from visiting the website and the perceived quality of the service offered through browsing the website.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
