Tracing graduates has become an imperative for higher education institutions much more during the pandemic. This tracer determined the employment and employability status of the 2019 BSE graduates and identified the competencies they adequately acquired and deemed vital for work. It used descriptive design, and data were collected from the 103 graduates through a Google form with open and closed-ended questions administered between November and December 2020. Results revealed that most of the graduates had been employed in teaching and teaching-related jobs but mostly in contractual arrangements within the first and second six months after graduation. Many had their first jobs with meager salaries from the private sector. Communication, pedagogy, information communication technology, time management, and flexibility were the top competencies they adequately acquired and were beneficial in work. The study concluded that these graduates had acquired 21st-century skills in their respective degree programs. These results have corresponding implications for future research in confirming the most employable skills in secondary teaching. As recommended, classroom instruction might emphasize the development of these skills. Eventually, these become the competitive advantage and employability capitals of future graduates. Administering the licensure examination and the release of its results can be done within the first three months after graduation to lessen the cost of waiting.
To enable pre-service teachers acquire certain teaching skills, well-planned educational programs and well-trained teachers are needed to implement them. Indeed, teacher education institutions hold a major responsibility in training qualified pre-service teachers, as it is essential for the welfare of a country and securing the quality of all educational levels from primary to tertiary education. To determine the level of teaching skills, a qualitative descriptive method was used with 96 pre-service teachers. The study adopted and modified a scale according to the needs of the study and validated by experts. The present study found that the pre-service teachers of Bukidnon State University (BukSU) generally are prepared for classroom work as revealed in the results of their internship in the laboratory school (which serves as the training ground where the education students of the University have their pre-service teaching) as well as during their off-campus experiences which consist of their roles as student interns and their ability to handle students’ participation. Qualitative research methods can be resorted in order to perform in-depth descriptive studies to investigate the differences in the teaching skills of pre-service teachers from different indicators. The study investigated the effects of Reality Pedagogy on the academic performance and motivation to learn of Grade 7 Physics students. It was conducted at Bukidnon State University -Secondary School Laboratory for the school year 2015-2016. A quasi-experimental design was utilized in the study. Developed lessons about Motion in One Dimension, Waves and Sound as well as a 30-item paper and pencil performance test were assessed and evaluated by panel of experts with their respective specialized field. A Physics Motivation Questionnaire adopted from Glynn was modified and also used. The data gathered used statistical technique such as mean and standard deviation. Also, the one-way analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) and t-test both at 0.05 level of significance were employed. Finding revealed that the posttest of the experimental group shows very satisfactory result compared with the control group which was only satisfactory. Further, there was no significant difference in the academic performance between the Grade 7 students taught by Reality Pedagogy and of the students not using Reality Pedagogy. However, there is an improvement in the academic performance of the two groups regardless with or without the intervention. The study showed that both the control and the experimental groups were moderately motivated to learn physics.
A place with clean water is worth living for, however, if it runs counter to the usual, it corollary results in some diseases. This epidemiological study does not intend to give a false image on the Kawasan Wat erfalls of Badian Cebu, Philippines rather, it aids to provide awareness among tourists to at least minimize anthropological activities that could contribute to water pollutants which cause an increased amount of heavy metals present in the water. With the collection of analyte and lab testing for the presence of cadmium, lead, and mercury in the aforementioned research environment, it was found that the water will not pose any health hazard to anyone in and around the river falls and even to any tourist in the place who wants to plunge into its azure water as far as cadmium and lead concentration is concerned. However, the mean concentration of mercury on the water projected a value, which is beyond the permissible concentrations and therefore may harm anyone in the community. Thus, it is recommended to strengthen measures to prevent and to control the release of these substances into the natural water. Shower facilities should be provided in the place and swimmers should wash first before plunging into the river. As part of an ongoing education and training effort, communicate all information on the health and safety hazards of mercury to potentially exposed individuals on the place. It is also suggested to conduct further concentration analysis of other me tals present in the said water falls.
