English proficiency is absolutely necessary for Indonesian students to succeed in international competition. Some English lessons relatively difficult to be comprehended by Indonesian students are related to tenses and aspects. There must be creativity in teaching, such as incorporating the lessons in the form of a comic book. A comic is a way of communication favored by many people, ranging from children to young adults, like college students. It communicates ideas through pictures and words. The study aims to design a comic as a learning medium of tenses and aspects in English. The educational comic is expected to support government program in improving English education, especially the students' understanding of Tenses and Aspects. It uses a qualitative method. Data concerning difficulties encountered by students in understanding tenses and aspects are collected through observation, literature reviews and interviews. Then the collected data are processed into a comic by applying management and design theories. The result of this study is a bilingual, full-color comic book containing a theory of English tenses and aspects included in daily activities and heroic stories that are inspiring for students.

One of the main difficulties faced by EFL learners in Indonesia is related to grammar, especially theconcept of tense and aspect. Today, as we live in a digital era where people are surrounded by visualstimulation, the concept of tense and aspect in English might be comprehended better by students if it isdelivered through visuals. Regarding this, the research is aimed at teaching the concept of English tensesand aspects through a comic book. It was conducted at ISBI Bandung by using qualitative method. Priorto designing comic, problem and need analysis were done to identify the problem and its solution. Thecomic story is divided into three parts, namely (1) the explanation of English tense and aspect theory; (2)the application of English tense and aspect in college students’ daily life; (3) the application of Englishtense and aspect in a story of an Indonesian heroine: R.A. Kesulitan yang dihadapi pelajar bahasaInggris di Indonesia terkait tense dan aspect salah satunya disebabkan perbedaan sistem tenseantara bahasa Inggris dan bahasa Indonesia. Saat ini, mengingat kita hidup di era digital dimanamanusia dikelilingi oleh stimulasi visual, konsep tense dan aspect sepertinya akan lebih mudahdipahami oleh siswa apabila konsep ini diajarkan melalui visual. Oleh karena itu, penelitian inibertujuan untuk mengajarkan konsep tense dan aspect di dalam bahasa Inggris melalui sebuahkomik. Studi ini dilakukan di ISBI Bandung dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif. Sebelummerancang komik, analisis masalah dan kebutuhan dilakukan untuk mengidentifikasi masalahdan solusinya. Cerita komik dibagi ke dalam tiga bagian, yaitu (1) penjelasan teori tense danaspect di dalam bahasa Inggris; (2) penerapan tense dan aspect di dalam kehidupan sehari-harimahasiswa; (3) penerapan tense dan aspect di dalam kisah seorang pahlawan wanita Indonesia:R.A.
