The objective of the research is to investigate the students' perception on teaching english vocabulary through Total Physical Response (TPR) technique and to identify the benefits that the students obtained from that technique. This research used a qualitative descriptive research method. The respondents of the research were eight grade students of SMPN 2 Plered Purwakarta. The data were obtained from questionaire and interview. The results of the study that the teaching english vocabulary through Total Physical Response (TPR) technique could help students' vocabulary in learning english. Based on interview and questionnaire, they showed some improvement on process of get new vocabulary from learning with that technique. Moreover, the data from questionaire and interview showed that there were some benefits of TPR method: 1. Developt of students' speaking ability and increasing vocabulary, 2. Increasing the students participation in the class, 3. Having a fun learning atmosphere.
INTERACTIVE, MEANINGFUL AND ATTRACTIVE ONLINE LEARNING AS AN EFFORT TO OPTIMIZE THE LEARNING PROCESS AMID COVID-19 PANDEMIC. The education policy of the Indonesian government is that temporary online learning has been conducted at almost all levels of education to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus. This means that all Indonesian students need to study online. In relation to this, educators must be able to provide engaging, interactive, and productive online learning. This article aims to illustrate the program which promotes the mastery of the relevant online learning that can be applied to students by Elementary school teachers. Mentoring offered by the community service team (PKM) as trainers is the strategy used in community service, which is carried out in three stages: planning, implementing and reflection. The outcome of this service is that English teachers at Perguruan Cikini Elementary School have a variety of online interactive learning. It is also expected that some learning applications can help teachers develop engaging and pleasant online learning experiences so that students can achieve the required learning competence.
This research aimed to analyze the speech acts of the movie script entitled Frozen, the movie that is being the most popular movie in 2013 until now. The research design in this paper is a qualitative method where the writers describe the result in a form of the words and the explanation of the result. The writers analyze all types of speech acts (representatives, commissives, directives, declarations, expressives, verdictives) by Finegan (2011) in doing this research, as the results of this research, all of the types of speech acts had their own meaning for delivering the sentences to make such a response. The writers found 294 clauses that contain the type of speech acts, there are representatives (37), commissives (3), directives (32), expressives (10). Each type of the speech acts are delivering different meaning. The results of the research are taken from the script of the character named Anna in Frozen the movie.
