With the aim of recognizing and identifying both fertile and sterile specimens of Ocotea from the Reserva Natural Vale, Linhares, we analyzed the leaf venation pattern of 31 species, 13 of them being described and illustrated for the first time. A dichotomous identification key was built from a matrix of 12 venation characters and 36 states, which allowed to distinguish the taxa.
In a foregoing paper (Moraes et al., 2021), the leaf venation of 31 species of Ocotea Aubl. from the Reserva Natural Vale (RNV), Linhares, was studied from the known collections available and treated by Moraes and Vergne (2019). Similarly, here we provide thorough descriptions and illustrations of the foliar venation of another 20 species of Lauraceae treated by Moraes and Vergne (2018), in order to aid in the identification of sterile material. These species belong to Aiouea Aubl.,
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
