This study aimed to evaluate the use of herbal medicines and medicinal plants by health professionals working in the family health strategy of Campina Grande-PB. This was a participatory and exploratory field study with a qualitative and quantitative approach conducted with pharmaceutical professionals, dentists, nurses and doctors who work at the Family Health Strategy (FHS) Units in Campina Grande-PB. 160 professionals were surveyed. It was found that most professionals surveyed were female (70.7%), with more than five years of graduation (71.2%) and specialization (62.6%); 80.6% of respondents agree with the use and prescription in SUS and Primary Health Care. It was concluded that only a small portion of respondents have no knowledge about medicinal plants / herbal medicines, and therefore, never prescribed to their patients.
