Background: Pressure ulcer represent a significant burden to the patient, family and healthcare organization. Aim: To assess the effect of nursing training on identification, prevention and management of pressure ulcer among stroke patients and its outcomes. Methods: a quasi-experimental stud pre posttest assessment. A convenience sample of 40 nurses were voluntarily participate in the study. Setting: The study carried out at neurological units (A and B) at Mansoura University Hospital. Tools: Interview Questionnaire Sheet, The Pieper Zulkowski-Pressure Ulcer Knowledge Test (PZPUKT), Facility Assessment Checklist, Moore & Price attitude scale, Socio-demographic and medical clinical base line data for patients and Braden Scale. Result: The result revealed a positive association between pressure ulcer educational protocol prevention and nurses' knowledge, attitude and practice to ward pressure ulcer prevention. The pretest result indicated that nurses' knowledge and practice were low, nurse's attitude was negative. However, the mean percentage of all posttest showed a significant increase in nurses' knowledge, attitude and practice. In addition to decreases pressure ulcer risk level among the patients with stroke. Conclusion: The result of current study indicates the important of ongoing nurses' education regarding pressure ulcer prevention and decrease the pressure ulcer risk level among patients Recommendation: developing a continuous training program to improve nurses' knowledge, attitude and practice toward pressure ulcer prevention.
Background: Prevalence of osteoporosis is high among diabetes patients. Assessment of self-efficacy regarding osteoporosis risk as well as patient education should be included as part of the self-management of diabetes. Aim:To evaluate the effect of a selfmanagement program on self-efficacy regarding osteoporosis risk among diabetic patients. Methods:A quasi-experimental (pre-posttest) research design was conducted on 90 diabetic patients who admitted in the internal medicine department at Assiut university hospital. Data were collected via pre-postintervention and at 3-month follow-up.Patient assessment sheet, Demographic and medical data, the new One-Minute osteoporosis risk test, and Diabetes Management Self-Efficacy Scale (DMSES) were used. Results:The majority of participants had moderate osteoporosis risk. There was a significant improvement in self-efficacy after self-care management program application.There was a statistically significant difference between diabetes management self-efficacy scores and the new one-minute osteoporosis risk test levels. Conclusion:A positive effects of self-care management regarding osteoporosis among studied patients with diabetes on self-efficacy scores.Recommendations:Relevant forms and visual information to facilitate educating diabetic patients regarding osteoporosis ought to be accessible and given to each diabetic patient.
Background: Coronary artery disease (CAD) is major global concerns.CAD can cause more than 23 million deaths in 2030 around the world. Improvement of patients` life style practices are achieved by effective utilization of an educational program. Aim: This study aimed to evaluate the effect of implementing an educational program on life style practices among patients with CAD.
The present study aimed to measure the current status of oncology hospital nurses' knowledge about genetics, genetics counseling, and the educational needs of nurses related to human genetics at Minia Governorate. Setting: data were collected from oncology hospital at Minia Governorate. Research design: Descriptive design has been utilized to carry out this study. Sample: 75 staff nurses worked in oncology hospital and primary health center was included in the study. Data has been gathered by using Nurses professed knowledge of genetics and genetic counseling questionnaire. Results: there are statistical massive distinction regarding genetic counseling experience among the studied nurses working in four area (surgery department, outpatient clinics, outpatient chemotherapy, and inpatient chemotherapy) in all items except information about current and future, revision of family history about approaches, local specialist, referral system, ability to review family genetic history, counseling to carrier of single disorder, ability to make recommendation, ability to provide recommendation, understanding basic ethics, and technique of genetic counseling. Conclusion: the majority of samples in all area had information about genetic counseling for breast cancer. As regard surgery department all of the studied nurses had not any information and need genetic counseling about liver cancer, leukemia, uterine cancer, brain cancer, cell, lymphoma, diabetes mellitus, and hypertention. While had little information about colon cancer, bladder cancer, ovarian cancer, thyroid, and Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). Recommendations: All nurses working in oncology hospital and primary health center are a need for continued education and training programs about genetic counseling.
