The energy crisis in Indonesia is marked by the increasing scarcity of fuel oil in the midst of society. One of the alternative energy sources is charcoal briquettes, where the ingredients are derived from solid waste from palm fronds. This study aims to determine the characteristics of oil palm midrib briquettes with 50% tapioca flour adhesive. The palm fronds were chopped to a size of ± 5 cm and then put into the pyrolysis chamber. Oil palm fronds were burned with a little oxygen at a temperature of 200-300⁰C for 3 hours. The result of pyrolysis combustion from oil palm fronds in the form of charcoal, then ground and filtered with a mesh of 60. The charcoal is glued with tapioca flour in a ratio of 2:1. Briquette testing is carried out at the Briquette Testing Laboratory provider to determine the parameters of combustion time, calorific value, moisture content, ash content, and carbon content that occur. From the test results, the following parameters are obtained: the average burning time is 1 minute/gr, the calorific value is 5.361kcal/kg wet basis and 5.863 kcal/kg dry basis, the water content is 8.56%, the ash content is 6.84 % wet basis and 7.48% dry basis, volatile matter is 36.96% wet basis and 40.42% dry basis and fixed carbon 47.64% wet basis and 52.10% dry basis.
The boiler is a steam-producing installation that is used to drive steam turbines as power plants in palm oil mills. It is working to remove the heat generated by fuel into the form of steam containing enthalpy, which is used to drive a steam turbine.This study was conducted for 15 days started from May 27, 2017, until June 15, 2017. The location of the study was conducted at PMKS South Sumatra Province. The average boiler efficiency is 81% with a heating value of 2117.6717 kcal/kg compared to other dates that have a higher heating value but efficiency is below 80%. This shows the success of the boiler's performance is not only determined by the heating value contained in the fuel but also determined by the temperature of the feedwater entering the boiler, the amount of fuel in the boiler and the condition of the fuel in the boiler combustion chamber.

This paper presented the test of cup drawing, and the tensile ability of tailor welded blanks (TWBs) used to join the resistance spot welding a variety of different parameters. This study used SPCC-SD (JIS 3141) material with a material thickness of 1.0 mm and 1.2 mm. This research is focused on obtaining the highest tensile-shear strength of resistance spot welding and how it affects the results of the drawing cup process. This study used an experimental research method using six samples of RSW parameters. RSW parameters used are welding current, welding time, and squeeze time. This research was achieved the highest tensile-shear strength value of 5.09 kN and the lowest 4.15 kN which was achieved in the 5th and 1st samples respectively. The results of the cup drawing test using RSW parameters in the 5th and 6th samples showed no TWB failure in the welded area. Further research will be carried out by performing Taguchi optimization using RSW and TWBs parameters in the cup drawing process.
Thermoelektrik adalah Teknologi yang bekerja dengan mengkonversi energi panas menjadi energi listrik secara langsung. Pembangkit Thermoelektrik bekerja berdasarkan efek seebeck dimana jika terdapat dua buah material atau lempeng logam yang tersambung pada lingkungan dengan suhu yang berbeda maka akan menimbulkan aliran arus listrik didalam material tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memanfaatkan panas buangan menjadi aliran listrik dengan menggunakan silencer knalpot, 2 buah elemen Peltier TEG SP1848 21745 SA, dan boiler mini sebagai sumber panas pengujian alat. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa dengan 2 buah elemen Peltier TEG SP1848 21745 SA yang disusun secara pararel menghasilkan arus maksimum 35,7 mA dan temperatur berbanding lurus dengan aliran arus listrik dan dapat dinyatakan dalam analogi aliran listrik Hukum Ohm II dimana . Metode Penelitian yang dilakukan dengan metode eksperimental. Pengujian dilakukan di Workshop Politeknik Kelapa Sawit Citra Widya Edukasi dengan waktu pengujian selama 10 menit dan pengambilan data setiap 1 menit.
