The change will always be experienced by the community, especially if it is already related to globalization. In addition to cultural degradation, the negative impact of globalization is lifestyle changes that are not following the values and norms of Indonesian society. At that time, religious values play an important role as a stronghold of negative things. The purpose of this study is to describe religious values by modern society amid globalization in the novel Impian Amerika by Kuntowijoyo. The data of this study are sentences or paragraphs describing the defense of religious values by modern society. The data source of this research is the Impian Amerika novel by Kuntowijoyo. The method used is descriptive qualitative with the technique of collecting recorded data and study of literature. Data analysis techniques using content analysis techniques. This research is important to do because, with the knowledge of religious values, a person will avoid negative things. Religious values will protect us from negativity.

The purpose of this research is to describe and explain Javanese local color in Pasar novel by Kuntowijoyo and its contribution to the character development of students. This research is descriptive qualitative with a literary anthropology approach. Data collection techniques using note-taking techniques, while data analysis techniques are content analysis techniques. The results of this research indicate that Pasar novel contains Javanese local colors such as (a) the setting in Gemolong District; (b) a religious system that believes in the existence of God but still maintains their religious culture; (c) social systems and social organizations that describe the social status of Javanese people; (d) the knowledge system of Javanese priyayi figures; (e) language; and (f) Javanese philosophy which is used as a principle of society's life. The local color in Pasar novel has an important role to add to cultural knowledge and positive values, so if that novel is used as literary teaching materials it will help students develop their characters for the better.Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan warna lokal Jawa novel Pasar karya Kuntowijoyo serta sumbangsihnya terhadap pengembangan karakter peserta didik. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dengan pendekatan antropologi sastra. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik baca catat, sedangkan teknik analisis data ialah teknik analisis isi (content analysis). Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa novel Pasar mengandung warna lokal Jawa seperti (a) latar tempat di Kecamatan Gemolong; (b) sistem religi yang mempercayai adanya Tuhan, tetapi tetap mempertahankan budaya religinya; (c) sistem kemasyarakatan dan organisasi sosial yang menggambarkan status sosial masyarakat Jawa; (d) sistem pengetahuan tokoh priyayi Jawa; (e) bahasa; serta (f) falsafah Jawa yang digunakan sebagai prinsip hidup masyarakat. Warna lokal dalam novel Pasar memiliki peran penting untuk menambah pengetahuan budaya dan nilai-nilai positif sehingga apabila novel tersebut digunakan sebagai bahan ajar sastra, akan membantu peserta didik mengembangkan karakternya menjadi lebih baik.

Perubahan pola pikir akibat perubahan zaman memengaruhi berbagai aspek kehidupan, salah satunya adalah pemaknaan pepatah Jawa yang sedari dulu sejatinya digunakan sebagai prinsip hidup masyarakat. Beberapa masyarakat bahkan salah mengartikan makna dan menganggap bahwa pepatah Jawa adalah warisan budaya yang sudah tidak relevan dengan kondisi modern saat ini. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelasan dan mendeskripsikan makna pepatah Jawa dalam novel Impian Amerika karya Kuntowijoyo yang mencerminkan kehidupan masyarakat modern di Amerika. Adanya penelitian ini, diharapkan mampu membuktikan bahwa pepatah Jawa tetap relevan dengan perkembangan zaman.  Penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dengan pendekatan antropologi sastra. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik baca catat. Teknik analisis data menggunakan teknik analisis isi (content analysis). Hasil penelitian ini membuktikan bahwa novel Impian Amerika karya Kuntowijoyo menggambarkan prinsip hidup masyarakat modern yang diambil dari pepatah Jawa. Prinsip hidup tersebut berhubungan dengan usaha masyarakat dalam menciptakan keselarasan antara individu dan Tuhan serta keselarasan antarindividu.

This research is expected to be able to prove that Javanese proverbs which are an ancestral heritage still relevant to today’s modern conditions and remind the readers that literary works are not only the result of the author's imagination but can also represent life and other positive values, thereby increasing the reader’s appreciation of literary works. This research is a descriptive qualitative with a literary anthropology approach. Data collection technique was note-taking technique. The data were analyzed with content analysis technique. The results of this research prove that Impian Amerika illustrates the principle of modern society's life taken from the Javanese proverb. The principle of life is related to community efforts in creating harmony between individuals and God and individuals as well.
