The current approach to a quality management system is based on principles that were specified on the basis of experience and good practices and approaches of major leaders in the field of quality management. Eight principles were defined that nowadays create the backbone of the implementation of a quality management system and are incorporated in the standards of ISO 9000:2005. The first principle is leadership. Leadership is a developmental process, which is based on the type of choice a leader makes (Mostovicz, Kakabadse & Kakabadse, 2009). Leadership leads managers to a fundamental approach that in turn lead to action, an example for others, understanding and flexible reactions to changes in their environment, the constant consideration of the needs of all concerned, including: customers, owners, suppliers, local communities and society as a whole. Their main task is to state the clear visions of an organisation's future, setting values and an ethical constellation of roles at all levels of an organization, to provide the staff with necessary resources and freedom of decision making for activities under their responsibility, to develop an open and decent communication, setting challenging goals and aspirations, using strategies to reach these aims. Consequently, leaders need to recognise that the choices they make for organisational activities have to fit their own worldview. Pursuing the fit between one's worldview and planned organisational activities ensures that leaders continuously improve their ethical behaviour (Mostovicz, Kakabadse & Kakabadse, 2009).
Leadership is one of the key principles that affect the improvement and streamlining for the implementation of a quality management system. The paper deals with the survey of the leadership application as one of the principles of quality management in the Slovak Republic's organizations. The surveys were conducted through questionnaires and within it we investigated how are in practice carried out activities related to this principle.
Environmental management is a set of voluntary environmental policies allowing the introduction of a systematic approach for organizations in solving environmental issues. Economic, social and environmental situation in the last century has resulted in the activities represented by the concept of sustainable development In order for development to have a long-term positive effect, it must be sustainable. Sustainable development is about ensuring that the resources of the Earth, which we use to promote economic growth, will be available also to future generations. The attention that is currently paid to the threats posed by global climate change is an example of how human freedom and human development can be undermined when the interests of economic growth and development are separated from the interests of the environment. The current environmental problems' solution is not just a question of technical solution, which until recently was caused by either a response to an environmental problem accrued or within the more progressive approach as a preventive approach. It should be a change in the value of the orientation of a human, as an individual, but also of society and all mankind. As today's consumers are beginning to become increasingly more aware of the problems of environmental pollution, so do producers and trades are beginning to modify their thinking and behavior towards proenvironmental direction and this way try to address their consumers.
Theory of constraints (TOC) is about thinking in logical, systematic, or structured processes similar to the PDCA learning loop. It is about analyzing cause and effect, verifying basic assumptions, exploring alternatives and process improvement. The goal of TOC is to maximize the efficiency of a process selectively at the most critical points and thereby maximize profitability, quality, or other corporate objectives. This paper include basic theoretical information about TOC and following application during process improvement. This paper was realised with VEGA support No. 1/0229/08 Perspectives of quality management development in coherence with requirements of Slovak republic market.
Abstract:In practise are TQM approaches applied through the EFQM Excellence Model and therefore research is focused on organizations which are applying this model and their level of performance in individual criteria are rated within the National Quality Award of the Slovak Republic. The paper objective is describe the current state of implementation of human resources management in organizations that participated in National Quality Award of the Slovak Republic. Organizations included in the research have achieved the highest rating and also are applying the EFQM Excellence Model. The model is composed of several areas. In the area of human resources management are important the approaches of implementation of human resources management and subsequent prove of results if the stated strategy is carried out efficiently to the employee satisfaction. This article is written within the project VEGA: "The readiness of industrial enterprises to implement the requirements of standards for quality management systems ISO 9001:2015 and environmental management systems ISO 14001:2014"
