Pupils are exposed to technology ever since early age. Online games are one of the widely used leisure activities yet an amusing and exciting medium of learning to learners especially among primary school pupils. It is undeniable that learning second language is challenging. In learning the language, vocabulary learning is important as it is part of the language. As a young learner, pupil still need to apprehend and views English as an important language. Teachers need to persuade the pupils in learning second language but one of the most crucial problems is that pupils are lack of vocabulary. So online games expectantly will help pupils to learn vocabulary unconditionally. This paper discusses pupils' perception on online games for ESL vocabulary learning. The aim of this paper is to review the relationship between learning vocabulary through online games in ESL language classes. Significantly, pupils will be able to come across new words through games with pleasure. Future research can look into any potential gap that might exist to learn ESL vocabulary successfully.
Studies had proved that acquiring wide range of English vocabularies is essential to be proficient English users. For ESL learners, there are various learning strategies that can be used to learn vocabularies and ESL teachers play significant part in this matter. One of the efficient ways is to integrate technology in the learning process. Even though computers are being used widely in the educational field, the role of mobile phones and mobile applications are becoming more prominent these days. This paper reflects the use of mobile applications (mobile apps) as strategies in teaching vocabularies among English teachers. Many studies show that the use of mobile applications in teaching can attract students' interest and increase their engagement in the learning. As a result, students can acquire more vocabularies compared to the traditional teaching method. Nevertheless, teachers and educators must be equipped with ample knowledge to conduct the learning using mobile apps efficiently and must take account students' social and economic background. Future research is recommended to empirically prove this finding as well as to identify potential gaps that might exist.
It is undeniable that technologies have impacted the educational field positively, from the economy to education. Electronic devices such as computers and the Internet have helped educators ease their jobs in educating the learners. ESL learners need to trail the requirement of the global workforce in being proficient in the English language. A few gaps have been identified for other researchers to conduct further study. More empirical evidence is needed to sustain this theory and explore the unknown issues from these research cycles. Hence, this paper aims to discuss the technology used to enhance active learning in the ESL context. This review discusses teaching and learning with technology. Computer-Assisted Language Learning (CALL) and Mobile-Assisted Language Learning (MALL) boost students' motivation by integrating audio-visual aids and games. The use of technology in language learning contributes positively to a great learning experience in active English language learning. The technology used is adaptable for students to engage in active learning at any English language proficiency level. Teachers and learners should prepare themselves with various technology learning activities for significant benefits.
