Care and follow-up of diabetic patients with foot at risk in multidisciplinary consultation seem to be effective not only in curative treatment, but also in primary and secondary prevention. The economic benefits need to be evaluated.
Our study revealed a relationship between pain and physical fatigue, as reported by 2 other studies. Poststroke fatigue management should include appropriate pain management. Further studies are necessary to determine the causes of physical fatigue after stroke.
Despite the small number of publications and a low level of proof, a number of recommendations for the non-pharmacological approach to psychological and behavioural disorders in TBI is proposed by the consensus conference of experts. Scientific research in this domain is needed to confirm and complete these first recommendations.
In addition to the application of care pathways already established by the SOFMER, prevention of behavioral and affective disorders for brain-injured outpatients should involve pain management, as well as development of therapeutic partnerships. It is recommended to inform patients, their family and caregivers regarding the local organization and facilities involved in the management of traumatic brain injury. The relevance of therapeutic education for implementing coping strategies, educating caregivers on behavioral disorder management, follow-up telephone interventions, and holistic therapy seems established. The level of evidence is low and preliminary studies should be confirmed with larger controlled trials.
