Vegetable oils are very effective, economic and appealing option as compared to conventional lubricants
due to their environment-friendly nature, sustainable behaviour and biodegradability. Castor oil, one
of the promising non-edible vegetable oils with nanoparticle additives has the potential to serve as
base lubricating oil. The benefit of using nanoparticles in base oils is their small size, which works as
a roller on contacting surfaces and results in reducing the wear and friction more efficiently. The
present review paper has been structured as follows. The first part of this technical article is designed
to give a brief about vegetable oils as a lubricant with special reference to castor oil. The second part
of the review paper describes the effects of nanoparticles especially molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) in
different lubricating oils, especially in castor oil. Finally, the applications of nanolubricants and their
future prospects are also discussed.
Summary
An insecticidal experiment on field scale against Lipaphis erysimi (Kalt) was carried out with (i) newly evolved mixture of nicotine sulphate 0.1%, Sesame oil 1.25%, soap 0.25%, soda 0.3% and alcohol 0.03%; (ii) diazinon 0.05% and 0.025% and (iii) malathion 0.1%. Spraying the crop with the mixture mentioned above proved most effective. The next in effectiveness was found to be diazinon 0.05%.

In einem Freilandversuch gegen die Blattlaus Lipaphis erysimi (Kalt.) erwies sich eine neue Insektizid‐Mischung als sehr wirksam. Sie bestand aus Nikotinsulfat 0,1%, Sesam‐Öl 1,25%, Seife 0,25%, Soda 0,3% und Alkohol 0,03 %. Vergleichsversuche wurden mit Diazinon 0,05 % und 0,025 % sowie Malathion 0,1% durchgeführt. In der insektiziden Wirkung lag Diazinon 0,05 % hinter der Wirkung der neuen Mischung.
