THE EFFECT OF FEED RESTRICTION AND DIFFERENCE SOURCE OF CRUDE FIBER ON LIVE WEIGT, CARCASS WEIGHT AND COMMERCIAL PIECES OF BROILER WITH LOHMAN STRAIN. The objective of research was to determine the effect of feed restriction and source of different crude fiber on live weight, carcass weigth and commercial pieces of broiler with Lohman strain. The material used was 24 broilers. This research was using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) in Factorial pattern of 2x4 with 3 replications. Feed restrictions were carried out at the age of 21 to 28 days old, after restrictions on broilers were fed commercial ration ad libitum feed until a time periode of 42 days. As a factor A was restricted feeding consisted of without restrictions (A0), and 20 percents restricted ration (A1). A factor B was source of crude fiber consisted of commercial feed (B0), commercial feed with coffee hull meal (B1), commercial feed with rice bran (B2), and commercial feed with coconut pulp (B3). The data analyzed used variance analysis and Tukey test to determine which one of treatment was significantly different from each other. The variables measured were live weight, carcass weight and percentage of commercial pieces consist of breast, thigh, drumstick, wing and brisket. The results showed that the combination treatment of feed restriction and source of crude fiber in feed gave a very significant different effect (P <0.05) on live weigth, carcass weight and commercial pieces of broiler with Lohman strain. The 20 percents restriction feeding with coconut pulp as a source of crude fiber gave best results on live weight, carcass weight, and commercial pieces of broiler with Lohman strain. Keywords: Feed restriction, crude fiber source, broiler commercial pieces
PRODUCTION PERFORMANCE OF LAYING HENS MB 402 FED RATION COINTAINING OIL OF CAKALANG FISH WASTE (Skipjack Tuna). This study was conducted to determine the production performance of laying hens (MB 402) fed ration containing fish oil waste. The materials used in this study were 100 laying hens at the age of 36 weeks. The treatments used were: 100% basal feed (R0), basal feed 99 % with 1% FOW (R1), basal feed 98% with 2% FOW (R2), basal feed 97% with 3% FOW (R3), basal feed 96% with 4% FOW (R4). Variables observed were including feed consumption (g/bird), Hen Day Production (%), feed conversion. Method used was the completely randomized design (CRD) continued by Duncan’s test for the significant analysis of variance. Treatments were replicated 5 times consist of 4 laying hens per replication. Results showed that the use of fish oil waste had no significant effect (P < 0.05) on feed consumption, Hen Day Production and feed conversion. Based on the results of this study, it was concluded that use of fish oil waste in the diet as much as 4 % could be recommended in ration to give the sama production performance of laying hens (MB 402). CARCASS PERFORMANCE OF BROILER FED RATION CONTAINING COFFEE (Coffea sp) HUSK WASTE PRODUCT TREATED BY SIMPLE PROCESSING AND SUBSTITUTING PARTS OF CORN WITH DIFFERENT LEVELS. Broilers had rapid growth rate and need high nutrient protein and energy balance in the diet. This study was conducted to evaluate the use of coffee husk waste product treated by simple processing substituted with part of corn in ration on carcass percentage of broiler. Study was applied at Faculty of Animal Science, Sam Ratulangi University during 35 days. Total of 144 day old chick unsexed broilers, strain of CP 707, involving 36 experimental units of battery pens were used in this study. Each unit of pen was filled 4 birds under completely randomized design on factorial patter of 3x4. Factor A was focused on three processing treatments including coffee husk heated under sun light (A1), coffee husk immersed in the water (A2), and coffee husk boiled under water (A3). Factor B was focused on four treatments of substitution levels including ration containing corn without coffee husk substitution (B0), ration containing corn substituted with 25% coffee husk (B1), ration containing corn substituted with 50% coffee husk (B2), ration containing corn substituted with 75% coffee husk (B3). Variables observed were including percentages of thigh, wing, breast and back part. Analysis of variance showed that interaction of processing treatments did not affect significantly on the percentages of thigh, wing, breast and back part. This study indicated that simple processing of coffee husk were not affected the carcass percentages of broiler. The substitution levels significantly affected carcass percentage of broiler. Percentages of thigh, wing, breast and back part were 28.92%-30.98%, 10.38%-12.68%, 35.10%-38.55% and 19,68%-22,71%, respectively. This study showed that utilization of coffee husk waste product by above simple processing could substitute part of corn in ration of 25% producing high carcass percentage of broiler. Keywords: Coffee husk by product, broiler part of carcass percentage
This research aims to determine the extent which the effectiveness of the addition of turmeric powder (Curcuma Roxb xhantorriza) and a ginger and white (Curcuma zedoria Rosc) in commercial rations on carcass percentage, amdominal fat, and the percentage ol liver in bloiler. The material used is old broiler 3 weeks as much as 53 tails. The design used was a completely randomized design with 6 treatments 3 replications. The treatmens were applied as follows: R0 = basic ration without ginger, and ginger and white, R1 = base + 2% ration ginger rhizome flour, R2 = base + 2% ration rhizome ginger and white flour. The result sho wed that the edition of flour and ginger rhizome of ginger and white flour in the ration was not significantly different (p > 0,05) on carcass percentage, abdominal fat, liver percentage. It can be concluded that the addition of ginger rhizome flour and white flour as much as 2% in the commercial ration still give the same response to the carcass percentage, abdominal, and the percentage of liver.
