~u~ma~. Fluid satu~ation dev~lopment in .long-core flood experiments is investigated. Information on ID fluid saturation distribu-tIons IS obtamed by labeling the fluid phases with nuclear trace~s ~nd d~tecting radiation with a movable detector. Various flood experients ~ere do~e on 2.5-ft.[76-cm] -long sandstone cores. In miscible displacements where radioactive brine is displacing inactive brine, dispersIOn ~d Ion a?sorptlon are evaluated. Imaging saturation profiles during drainages and waterfloods gives information on saturationfront velOCity and time development of local saturation variations. Experimental results are compared with numerical results from a ID front-tracking black-oil simulator that incorporated inhomogeneities and capillary effects. Surfactant floods were investigated to test the applicability for EOR studies further.
