Abstract. Cu4SnS 4 orthorhombic, space group Pnma, a = 13.558 (3), b --7.681 (1), c --6.412 (1) ,~, O m = 4.86, D C = 5.05 g cm -3 for Z = 4. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis; parameters were refined by leastsquares methods to the final R value 0.071. All metallic atoms have tetrahedral coordination: Sn is regular, while the Cu atoms are far from the centres of the tetrahedra.
