Simultaneous 10 kHz repetition-rate tomographic particle image velocimetry (TPIV), hydroxyl planar laser induced fluorescence (OH PLIF), and formaldehyde (CH2O) PLIF were performed in a turbulent premixed flame in the thickened flamelet regime in order to quantify the conditional local turbulent flame speed. The flame speed is computed based on the rate at which fluid control masses pass through a 3D flame contour, determined from the TPIV Mie scattering. Calculated flame speeds are shown to exceed the laminar flame speed. Conditional statistics on flame speed and local, instantaneous turbulence are presented, showing no direct correlation.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
