We investigate the double photoionization (DPI) process along the Be isoelectronic sequence (Be−Ne 6+ ) by solving the time-dependent Schrödinger equation with a spectral method of configuration interaction type. The results that we obtain of the DPI cross sections are in a good agreement with other reported data. We also present the first results of double-to-single photoionization cross sections ratios for Be-like ions in support of possible photofragmentation experiments with x-ray free electron lasers. Finally, we probe the mutual interaction of the valence electrons at different photon energies and examine the subsequent redistribution of the excess photon energy among them.
