In this study I tested the validity of the theory of planned behavior (Ajzen, 1991) and found that it could be used to predict entrepreneurial intention in a sample of 1,330 Chinese students. Attitude represented the most effective predictor of entrepreneurial intention, followed by subjective norms, and then perceived behavioral control. Gender and parents' entrepreneurial experience had a significant impact on entrepreneurial attitude, subjective norms, perceived behavioral control, and entrepreneurial intention. Effective entrepreneurship education could significantly enhance perceived behavioral control and entrepreneurial intention.
A meta-analysis of 143 studies was conducted to explore how the social desirability response bias may influence sex effects on ratings on measures of ethical decision-making. Women rated themselves as more ethical than did men; however, this sex effect on ethical decision-making was no longer significant when social desirability response bias was controlled. The indirect questioning approach was compared with the direct measurement approach for effectiveness in controlling social desirability response bias. The indirect questioning approach was found to be more effective.
The theory of planned behavior (Ajzen, 1985) was applied to predict Chinese business students' cheating behavior. Chinese business students (N = 205; response rate, 77.6%) were surveyed at 2 time points separated by 1 month. Attitude, subjective norms, perceived behavioral control, cheating intention, and demographic information were recorded at Time 1, and self-reported subsequent cheating behavior was measured at Time 2. The results show that attitude, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control were positively associated with the intention to cheat and cheating behavior; that subjective norms could impact significantly on attitude; and that perceived behavioral control had a direct effect on cheating behavior, but did not influence cheating behavior through the medium of intention. Finally, I developed a modified version of the theory of planned behavior designed to predict Chinese students' cheating behavior effectively.
In this study I explored the moderating effect of moral identity between proactive personality and moral imagination. Data were collected at 2 time points separated by 1 month from 378 participants. The data for proactive personality, moral personality, and moral identity were collected at Time 1, and moral imagination was measured at Time 2. Results showed that proactive personality was positively associated with moral imagination for people with high levels of moral identity but was negatively associated with moral imagination for people with low levels of moral identity.
