A novel smart optoelectronic XOR gate based on directional couplers has been proposed for the first time. It takes advantages of the linear device operation and being easy to implement logic function as compared to the conventional optoelectronic logic gates. Detailed investigations such as configuration of the logic gate, optoelectronic converters and numerical analysis have been considered.
The novel architectures of the smart optoelectronic logic gate has been proposed for the first time. In former one, both the AND and OR function can be integrated in a single circuit. These optoelectronic circuits are composed of the integrated optical waveguide directional couplers, optoelectronic converters, EDFAs, delay line, and a DFB laser. Importantly, linear device operation with low power is the main advantage as compared to the conventional optoelectronic logic elements. Moreover, characteristics of these optoelectronic circuits, such as optical path, slew-rate limiting, and phase retardation on the different states of operation, have been discussed and would be informative.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
