The results of this review provided evidence for the importance of psychological empowerment for the job satisfaction of among nurses. Exploring the correlation between psychological empowerment and job satisfaction can provide guidelines and recommendation for the development of strategies to promote nurse retention and alleviate nursing shortage.
Aim: To systematically evaluate the effect of working environment on implicit rationing of nursing care. Background: Research has established direct and indirect associations between work environment and adverse patient outcomes. However, the causal nature of this relationship is uncertain, and implicit rationing has been proposed as a mediating factor between the work environment and patient outcomes. Method: Eight databases were searched for articles published between May 2000 and May 2019. Results: The reviewed articles provided evidence for the negative correlation between working environment and implicit rationing in 15 studies, and one of the studies showed that the correlation was not strong. There were differences in the levels of implicit rationing in different hospitals, units and shifts. Conclusion: The degree of influence of various factors in the working environment on implicit rationing is different. In addition, the working environment is only one of the factors that affects implicit rationing. Implications for Nursing Management: Nursing managers initiatives to improve nurses' work environments should include improve nurses' perception of the adequacy of staffing and resources and improving teamwork to decrease nursing care left undone, so as to improve nurse outcomes and quality of care.
Long non-coding RNA nuclear-enriched abundant transcript 1 (NEAT1) plays an important role in the pathogenesis and development of several types of cancer. However, the functional mechanism of NEAT1 in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remains unclear. NEAT1 and microRNA (miR)-129-5p expression in HCC tissues and cell lines was quantified by means of quantitative PCR. The effects of NEAT1 expression inhibition or upregulation in HCC cell lines were analyzed in terms of cell viability and apoptosis. Biological software was used to predict the binding sites of NEAT1 and miR-129-5p. The expression of the miR-129-5p target molecules valosin-containing protein (VCP) and IκB was detected using Western blotting. The effect of NEAT1 on tumor growth was observed in mouse models of transplanted hepatoma. In the present study, it was concluded that the expression of NEAT1 was significantly increased in the HCC tissues and cell lines. Meanwhile, after downregulating NEAT1 expression in HepG2/Huh7 cell lines, the cell viability was significantly lowered, whereas the corresponding rate of apoptosis was significantly increased. Additionally, it was found that the NEAT1 and miR-129-5p expression showed a negative correlation in HCC tissues. It was further proved that there was a certain negative regulatory mechanism between NEAT1 and miR-129-5p, which was related to the expression of VCP and IκB. The mouse model experiments confirmed that the interference with NEAT1 expression inhibited tumor growth. The study concluded that the overexpression of NEAT1 inhibited the expression of miR-129-5p by regulating VCP/IκB, thereby promoting the proliferation of HCC cells. This study provides new insights into the pathogenesis of HCC, as well as identifying new target genes for diagnosis and treatment. The results provide strong evidence that upregulated NEAT1 promotes the proliferation of cancer cells in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and this regulatory mechanism depends on the microRNA (miR)-129-5p-valosin-containing protein-IκB axis. The study also indicates that NEAT1 could be a potential therapeutic target for HCC.
[Purpose] To investigate the effect of Tai Chi on cognitive and physical function in the elderly. [Subjects and Methods] A randomized trial design was used. A total 150 subjects were enrolled and were divided into Tai Chi and control groups. Subjects in the Tai Chi group participated Tai Chi for 6 months, and subjects in the control group participated in other non-athletic activities. [Results] There were no differences between the groups in the one leg standing time with eyes open, left grip strength, or the Frontal Assessment Battery at bedside after 3 and 6 months of intervention. The Mini-Mental State Examination scores after 3 and 6 months were higher in the Tai Chi group than in the control group. The right grip strength after 3 months increased more in the Tai Chi group than in the control group. Both the 5-m high walking speed and 10-m normal walking speed were significantly lower after 3 and 6 months of Tai Chi practice. [Conclusion] These results suggest that regular Tai Chi practice may improve cognitive and physical function in the elderly.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
